When to Travel for Lower Crowds at Disney World
There are crowds year round at Disney World, but there are some travel periods that are less busy than most. Here are some of the times that you’ll find lower crowds at Disney World and some of the other perks to vacationing during these times.
September
September tends to be a slower time of year for Disney World. Kids have gone back to school, and the holiday peak crowds have not yet begun to arrive. Since Disney begins its Halloween parties in August, you’ll be able to see the decorations at the Magic Kingdom or even attend a Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. There’s also the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. With DVC stays in particular, September can be a great time to travel since it is the travel period with the lowest point values. For instance, Deluxe Studios start at 9 points a night at the BoardWalk and 7 points a night at Animal Kingdom Lodge! For DVC rentals, these lower point values translate to a cheaper rental cost.
End of January
After the rush of New Year’s, Marathon Weekend, and Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, the end of January can be a good time to visit. The weather is mild (or even chilly), and you can catch all the creative dishes, Disney-influenced artwork, and Broadway performances at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. Though not as economical as September, January is another low-point travel period for DVC.
May
In May, you are past spring break crowds, and kids are still in school for most of the month. The weather is warmer but not quite as sweltering as the summer months, and you can enjoy the beautiful flowers, topiaries, and fresh dishes at the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. For DVC, May is another relatively low point travel period, so you can save points as a member or save on a rental as a guest.
Book your next Disney World vacation for January, September, or May, and stay at a Deluxe resort for a fraction of the price! Check the DVC Rental Store’s confirmed reservations, or inquire about future availability.
