How to Rent Your DVC Points – Understanding the Claim Open Listings Process
Renting out your DVC points is an excellent way to maximize their value while helping Disney Guests book their dream vacations. One of the biggest misconceptions about renting DVC points is that we list your points for sale. Instead, at the DVC Rental Store, we connect your points with specific Guest requests. Rather than simply listing points, we provide you with real-time rental opportunities that match your available points, allowing you to claim and fulfill reservations with ease.
One of the easiest ways to rent your points is by utilizing our Claim Open Listings Page—the home for available Guest rental requests.
How the Claim Open Listings Page Works
Rather than posting your points and waiting for someone to request them, we take a proactive approach by allowing you to view and claim real-time Guest demand. Here’s how it works:
- Guests Submit Their Requests – Guests looking to rent DVC points tell us their preferred resort, travel dates, and room type.
- DVC Rental Store Verifies Availability – Before posting the request, our team checks availability through Disney Vacation Club to ensure the requested reservation can still be booked.
- Listing is Posted for Members – Once verified, the request appears on the Claim Open Listings Page, where Members can browse and claim bookings that match their available points.

How to Claim a Rental Request
Claiming a rental request is simple and only takes a few steps:
- Check the Listings – Visit the Claim Open Listings Page within your DVC Rental Store Member Center Account and browse available requests.
- Verify Your Points Match – If you have the necessary points for the specific resort and timeframe listed, you’re eligible to claim the request.
- Click the Red “Claim” Button – Once claimed, our system automatically removes it from the listing page to prevent double bookings.
- Receive an Email with Booking Instructions – Once claimed, you will receive an email with all the necessary details to complete the reservation, including:
- The Guest’s full name and contact information
- Check-in and check-out dates
- Resort and room category details
- Step-by-step instructions for booking through Disney Vacation Club

Once you complete the booking, you’ll confirm the 12-digit reservation number with us, and we’ll handle the rest. Your initial payment (75% of the total payout) is typically processed within a few business days after all agreements have been signed and the Guest pays their full deposit.
What if You Don’t See a Match for Your Points?
Not every Member will see an immediate match for their points, but there are ways to maximize your chances of securing a rental:
- Check Back Frequently – The Claim Open Listings Page is updated regularly as new Guest requests come in, so checking once or twice per day can increase your chances of finding a match.
- Set Up Automated Email Alerts – In Part 3 of our blog series, we’ll walk you through how to receive daily email notifications for rental opportunities that match your points.
- Consider Alternative Booking Strategies – If you have limited availability or soon-to-expire points, our team can provide guidance on how to best utilize them.
Next Steps
Now that you understand how to claim rental requests, the next step is setting up automated alerts so you never miss an opportunity to rent your points. In Part 3 of our series, we’ll guide you through the My DVC Points feature and how to enable email notifications for potential rental matches.
