Which DVC Resorts Have the Best Transportation Options?

May 2, 2024

Transportation can play a big factor in choosing where to stay for a Walt Disney World vacation.  Whether you want to get to the parks as quickly as possible or you want to have the easiest mode of transportation when traveling with an ECV or stroller, here are some recommendations for DVC resorts based on transportation.

Easy Access to the Most Parks

When you have a stroller or ECV or you simply want options other than a bus, the monorail resorts (Bay Lake Tower, Grand Floridian, and Polynesian) and EPCOT resorts (BoardWalk, Beach Club, and Riviera) are your best bet.

With the monorail resorts, you have the monorail to go to and from the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.  The monorail is a good option when traveling with an ECV or stroller.  You don’t have to collapse your stroller, not even side-by-side double strollers!  Other modes of transportation include the ferry from the Grand Floridian and Polynesian to the Magic Kingdom.  Bay Lake Tower and the Grand Floridian have walking paths to the Magic Kingdom. This makes things easier when you don’t want to wait for any transportation at all.

Among the EPCOT resorts, the BoardWalk and Beach Club are walking distance from EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.  If you don’t feel like walking, you can also take the Friendship boat to either park or even hop on the Skyliner at International Gateway at the back of EPCOT to get to Hollywood Studios. ECVs and strollers are permitted on both the Friendship boats and Skyliner though double strollers must be collapsed.

Best for Parking

If you are traveling with your own car or a rental car, parking is a consideration.  For the hot Florida sun, one of the best resorts for parking is Kidani Village at Animal Kingdom Lodge.  The covered garage provides plenty of shade to keep your vehicle cool.  Resorts like Old Key West and Saratoga Springs are known for being very large with many separate buildings.  However, an advantage to their layout is that you can park right by your building. You never have to walk far to and from your car.  If you stay at one of the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs, each has its own parking spot in front of the Treehouse.

Another resort with easy parking is the Polynesian.  While room requests are never guaranteed, if you stay at the Polynesian and have a Deluxe Studio in the Tokelau longhouse, you’ll be right next to the villas parking lot.  Note that if you have a Lake View Deluxe Studio, you will be in the Moorea longhouse since that is the only one that offers lake views.
