When Is the Best Time to Rent Out Your DVC Points?
Renting out your DVC points is a great way to make the most out of any unused points before they expire, and it can even help you cover your annual dues. If you are looking to rent out your points, when is the best time to do so?
At the 11-Month Mark
If you happen to know well in advance that you will not use all your points, it helps to make your points available to book a reservation at the 11-month mark. Since this is the earliest that you can make a reservation, you are more likely to find the availability to fulfill a guest’s request. Booking at the 11-month mark also means that you are able to leverage your home resort advantage. Aside from better availability, you get paid at a higher rental rate before the 7-month booking window.
Well Before the Points Expire
Points expire at the end of the Use Year unless they can be banked. As soon as you know you have points that cannot be banked and that you have no plans to use, try to rent them out. If you wait until they are about to expire before trying to rent them, you may find limited room inventory to book with those points, or it may not give you enough time to match you with a guest who wants to use those points.

Before Dues Need to Be Paid
If you know that you want to put your rental income towards annual dues, you’ll want to plan in advance. Annual dues are typically due by January 15 each year. To apply the full rental income amount to your dues, you’ll want to make sure that the rented DVC stay takes place before January 15. With DVC Rental Store, you get 75% of the rental payment upfront once you transfer the reservation to the guest, and the guest signs the rental agreement. You receive the remaining 25% of the rental income once the guest checks into the resort.
