What Separates the Disney Wish from Other Disney Cruise Line Ships?
The Disney Wish is Disney Cruise Line’s latest ship. It is the first of the Triton-class ships with its sister ship, the Disney Treasure, debuting in 2024 and a third ship to follow. While the Wish offers many features that Disney cruisers have come to expect, it’s still a departure from older Disney ships. Here are some of the features that set the Disney Wish apart from the other Disney Cruise Line ships.
The Grand Hall
Instead of the typical atrium, the Wish features the stunning multi-floor Grand Hall. It is the first room that guests see upon boarding the Wish, and it makes quite the first impression! The Grand Hall has lots of design elements that pay homage to Cinderella. Besides the bronze statue of Cinderella and her glass slipper near the spiral staircase, you’ll find a beautiful chandelier inspired by Cinderella’s ball gown. At 10pm or midnight each night, there is a “kiss goodnight,” and the chandelier lights up to the tune of “So This is Love.” It’s an enchanting way to end a great day on the ship!
During the daytime, the Grand Hall hosts character meet and greets and family-friendly games. By night, you’ll find live bands playing everything from jazz to Disney classics.
The Beautiful Staterooms
On the Disney Wish, the staterooms are brighter than those on the previous ships. In lieu of the nautical theming with dark wood trim and shades of navy and red, the Wish has lots of soft colors and various themes from Disney movies. Depending on the location of your stateroom, it can be themed after “Frozen,” “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty,” “Moana,” or “The Princess and the Frog.” There are also four luxurious Royal Suites. These suites have two bedrooms, three bathrooms, private verandahs with a whirlpool, living room, dining room, and wet bar. The ultimate splurge is the Wish Tower Suite. It’s a two-story, 2,000-square-foot suite in one of the ship’s funnels that accommodates up to 8 guests.
Delicious New Rotational Dining Options
The Wish has rotational dining all of its own, including 1923, Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, and Worlds of Marvel. 1923 is a nod to the year that The Walt Disney Studios was established. The restaurant’s elegant decor combines old Hollywood glamor with Disney animation history. Throughout the dining room, guests will notice displays with drawings, storyboards, and props from Disney animated films. The restaurant features a California-inspired menu.
At Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, you’re invited to Anna and Kristoff’s engagement party! Guests dine on scandinavian-inspired dishes while enjoying live music and appearances from Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf.
In Worlds of Marvel, guests enjoy a menu inspired by the Marvel Universe and join Ant-Man and the Wasp for “Avengers: Quantum Encounter.” This is a demonstration of Super Hero technologies like the Quantum Core, which guests will need as they soon become part of a mission!
New Lounges Inspired by Disney Stories
The Wish has several beautifully themed lounges like The Bayou, a “Princess and the Frog”-themed lounge, Nightingale’s, a Cinderella-themed piano lounge, and The Rose, a sophisticated “Beauty & The Beast”-themed lounge. Star Wars fans will be transported to destinations like Batuu, Coruscant, and more in Hyperspace Lounge. For a more casual pub, guests can head to the Viking ship-themed Keg & Compass. Guests may just spot some hidden Disney details among the ceiling’s maritime map.
The AquaMouse
In place of water coasters like the AquaDuck on the Dream and Fantasy, the Wish has the AquaMouse. Disney refers to it as the first attraction at sea. It combines the thrills of a water coaster with a storyline and some special effects. There are actually two different storylines from The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse that guests can experience: Scuba Scramble and Swiss Meltdown.
Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party
Yes, the other Disney Cruise Line ships have a pirate night. However, the one on the Wish is a little different. During the brand new Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party, guests can enjoy live music led by Captain Redd (descendent of Redd from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction) and her pirate band. Captain Jack Sparrow may even make an appearance! The night is capped off with a fireworks show at sea set to an original arrangement of the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack.
These are just some of the differences that set the Wish apart from the other Disney Cruise Line ships. From the new Broadway-style shows to the highly themed kids clubs, there’s still so much more to discover on the Wish. You’ll just have to experience it for yourself!
