Say Goodbye to DinoLand U.S.A.: Visit Before It Goes Extinct!

March 8, 2025
By

DinoLand U.S.A. has long been a prehistoric playground for Disney’s Animal Kingdom guests, filled with dinosaur digs, carnival-style fun, and time-traveling adventures. But just like the dinosaurs themselves, this beloved land is facing extinction. In its place, Disney is developing Tropical Americas, an all-new immersive area set to open in 2027.

While the transformation is exciting, 2025 marks the last full year for guests to experience DinoLand before it vanishes into history. If you have fond memories of dodging meteors on DINOSAUR, digging for fossils at The Boneyard, or chowing down at Restaurantosaurus, now is the time to visit before these attractions are gone forever.

What’s Still Open in DinoLand?

The good news is that you still have time to make one last trip back to the Cretaceous period. As of now, some of DinoLand’s biggest attractions remain open, including:

  • DINOSAUR – The thrilling dark ride that takes you on a race against time to save an Iguanodon before an asteroid impact. This fan-favorite will be operational until 2026.
  • The Boneyard – A fun, fossil-filled playground where little archaeologists can dig and explore.
  • Restaurantosaurus – A quirky, dino-themed quick-service restaurant still serving up burgers, fries, and its famous ice cream sandwiches.

What’s Already Closed?

Some DinoLand attractions have already gone extinct. Earlier this year, Disney closed:

  • TriceraTop Spin – The classic spinner ride similar to Dumbo.
  • Fossil Fun Games – The carnival-style games once found near Chester & Hester’s.
  • Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures – The DinoLand gift shop that has been a staple for dinosaur-themed souvenirs.

When Will DinoLand Close for Good?

While no official closing date has been set for the remaining attractions, 2025 is expected to be the last year for much of DinoLand. If you want to take one last ride on DINOSAUR, let the kids run free in The Boneyard, or grab a meal at Restaurantosaurus, plan your visit soon before it’s too late.

What’s Coming Next: Disney’s Tropical Americas

DinoLand’s replacement, Tropical Americas, promises to be a lush and vibrant land inspired by the cultures of South and Central America. The new area will include:

  • An Indiana Jones attraction – A brand-new thrill ride featuring Indy on a search for a mythical creature.
  • An Encanto-themed ride – Disney’s first-ever attraction based on Encanto, bringing the magic of Casita to life.
  • A large new quick-service restaurant – One of the biggest dining locations at Walt Disney World.
  • A handcrafted carousel – Featuring Disney-inspired animals, adding a fresh family-friendly ride to the park.
