Popular DVC Studios to Book and the Next Best Alternatives

December 3, 2024
By

Many DVC Members like to stretch their points and use them for as many vacation days as possible.  This means seeking out the most point-economical villas: studios.  Whether you are a DVC Member yourself or a guest looking to rent DVC points, here are some of the most popular studios along with alternatives to seek out when those studios are not available.

Animal Kingdom Lodge Value Deluxe Studio and Kilimanjaro Club Concierge Level Deluxe Studio

These are two separate booking categories at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but both types of studios are extremely hard to book.  The Value studios located at Jambo House are in high demand as the cheapest pointwise throughout all of the DVC resorts.  They can go for as few as 7 points per night.  However, there are only 18 of them, so it is even difficult for Animal Kingdom Lodge owners to book them at the 11-month mark.

Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Lodge is also the only DVC resort to offer Club Level villas, so they are also very popular.  This combined with the fact that there are only 5 Concierge studios means that your chances of booking one are very low.

Next Best Alternative: Animal Kingdom Lodge Standard View Deluxe Studio

For as little as a 3-point difference per night, you can get a Standard View studio instead of a Value studio.  The Standard View studios at both Jambo and Kidani have fairly good availability through the 7-month mark, except for the fall, which is a popular season for all DVC villas.  Also, the Standard View studios are slightly larger than the Value ones though the Standard View studios at Jambo House are a few feet smaller than the Standard View Kidani Village studios.  If you book a Standard View studio as an alternative to a Concierge one, a nice perk is that you’ll save points.

BoardWalk Villas Standard View Studio

The BoardWalk Standard View studios are almost as low in point value as the Animal Kingdom Lodge Value Studios, and they are nearly as elusive.  These Standard View studios tend to disappear right at the 11-month mark.  Even for BoardWalk Villas owners, they are hard to reserve.

Next Best Alternative: BoardWalk Garden/Pool View Deluxe Studio

Yes, the Garden/Pool View studios require more points than the Standard View and are worth the same number of points as the Boardwalk View studios; however, if you want to stay at the BoardWalk, your odds are best for this category since there are more Garden/Pool View studios available.  Even though this is a preferred view category, the points for Garden/Pool View studios are similar to the points needed for studios at other resorts or sometimes still lower in point value.  Bonus: if you are lucky, you may get a Garden/Pool View studio that faces the Village Green, which gives you a partial view of the boardwalk!  Some of those Village Green villas also have unusually large balconies that are more like patios.

Another Alternative: Old Key West Deluxe Studio

If you mainly want a BoardWalk Villas Standard View studio for the low point value and don’t care as much about the location, then another alternative is a studio at Old Key West, which can also go for as low as 9 points a night.  Old Key West studios tend to be in lower demand than those at other resorts and can often be found at the 7-month mark.  They’re also a nice alternative as the largest DVC studios by square footage and one of the few with 2 regular queen-sized beds (not a Murphy bed or sofa bed).

Copper Creek Deluxe Studio

The combination of the point-heavy cabins and many small contracts sold at Copper Creek leads to stiff competition for the studios.  Both categories of studios (shower and tub) tend to disappear shortly after the 11-month mark regardless of the time of year.

Next Best Alternative: Boulder Ridge Villas Deluxe Studio

While its decor differs from Copper Creek’s modern rustic styling, a studio at Boulder Ridge Villas still gives you access to the beautiful Wilderness Lodge and its tranquil grounds.  Boulder Ridge studios tend to be easier to book than those at Copper Creek and are about equal in point value.  The Boulder Ridge Villas were also recently refurbished, so the studios there make for an even better alternative to the Copper Creek studios than before.  Another perk is that the Boulder Ridge studios can sleep up to 5 guests rather than just 4 like at Copper Creek.

Riviera Tower Studios

The Tower Studios at Riviera only sleep up to 2 guests, but many people are intrigued by the idea of spending as little as 9 points a night for the Tower Studios.  The downside is that there aren’t very many available to book.  In fact, there are only about 24 Tower Studios in all of Riviera, so your odds of booking one aren’t great.

Next Best Alternative: Riviera Resort Standard View Deluxe Studio

If you get shut out of the Tower Studios, it may be worthwhile to upgrade to the Standard View Deluxe Studio for only a few more points per night.  You’ll have more space and be able to accommodate up to 5 adults in the villa versus only 2 adults in the Tower Studio.  Plus, the split bathroom is always a nice perk.

Another Alternative: BoardWalk Garden/Pool View Deluxe Studio

You may also want to consider a Garden/Pool View Deluxe Studio at the BoardWalk if you specifically want a studio at an Epcot resort.  Your odds of finding a Garden/Pool View studio at the BoardWalk will be greater than your odds of getting a Riviera Tower Studio based on the number of villas available in those categories.
