Is Satu’li Canteen’s Breakfast a Disney Park Must-do? YES!

December 11, 2024
By

I’m a sucker for breakfast food, especially breakfast food at Disney. So, as you might guess, my interest was peaked from the start when it was announced that Satu’li Canteen, located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, would be reintroducing breakfast items. I simply had to try them all!

Four dishes can be found on Satu’li’s breakfast menu, with an additional two (a single slice portion of the French Toast entrée, and cereal) on the kids’ menu. Guests have their pick between two savory and two sweet options. Let’s go over them all!

Tropical Pandoran Forest Fruits ($11.99)

This was the dish that I was looking forward to the most. I know, I know. It’s just a bowl filled with yogurt and fruit, right? Wrong. Yes, yogurt is the base of the dish, but it’s then layered with muesli, and both fresh and dried fruit. The kiwi in my bowl was incredibly fresh and delicious. The whole thing is topped off with fruit compote and honey, and Honey, you’ve just gotta try it. 😉

Frittata and Beef ($14.29)

If you’ve had the beef option in your bowl during a lunch or dinner stop by Satu’li Canteen, you’ll recognize this protein. The frittata that it was paired with was nice; fluffy and somewhat flavorful. If you’re looking to get an extra dose of protein to kick off your park day, this is a great way to go. It wasn’t my favorite entrée, to be honest, but the shaved beef was well prepared. Take note that it comes with a small mixed greens salad on the side.

Cinnamon French Toast ($12.99)

The sweetest option on the list is the Cinnamon French Toast. Two thick-cut slices of French toast are paired with a generous dollop of blueberry cream cheese. The French toast slices are placed atop a pool of passionfruit crème anglaise, which lends a bright and somewhat unexpected note to the dish. Memo to myself: learn how to make passionfruit crème anglaise; it’s divine. For those wanting to kickstart the day by satisfying their sweet tooth, this is definitely the go-to option.

Slow-roasted Pork Shoulder Potato Hash ($13.29)

Friends, this was the sleeper hit of the ENTIRE menu. I was completely surprised by this dish, and if you’re looking for a hearty, warm and satisfying breakfast to start your Animal Kingdom day, I recommend you make a beeline to get this.

Potato hash isn’t anything new to Satu’li’s lunch and dinner menu, but this hash is different. Shredded pork shoulder can be found throughout the hash, and if the dish stopped there, it’d be enough. Thankfully, the chefs at Satu’li decided to kick things up several notches by adding a generous portion of chorizo (hello, my love) and topped things off with their fabulous charred onion sauce. Dear me this was good.

The only feedback I’d give is that the chorizo was a little too done and bordered on crispy; I’d just ask that we back off on the heat to really allow that chorizo to shine. But that’s so incredibly small compared to how incredibly good and meaty and filling this dish is. Please get it, and please invite me.

It’s been years since Satu’li Canteen offered breakfast, and I have to say that it’s good to see it again. It’s worthy of your park day, and it’s a fabulous quick-service breakfast option. I truly hope it never leaves.
