Do You Make a POINT to Eat at Geyser Point?
Pull up a chair, friends. It’s time to continue our conversation regarding the Disney restaurants that are truly worth leaving a theme park for. Last time we met, I suggested that lunchtime at Steakhouse 71 falls soundly into this category, and now I’m back to take a good, hard look at what’s become the belle of the ball over the years: Wilderness Lodge’s Geyser Point Bar & Grill.
To set the table right from the start (pun intended, of course), please know that an Advanced Dining Reservation cannot be made for Geyser Point. You’ll have to leave your Magic Kingdom day, take the resort launch to Wilderness Lodge and make your way to the restaurant all without the guarantee that a table will be available for you. That being said, I suggest checking in the My Disney Experience app to see what the Walk Up List is saying about the current wait time and whether or not you’re close enough in proximity to join the list.
In the off chance that you’ve never been to the restaurant, let me take a moment to paint the picture for you. It’s a still life of a serene waterside setting. Watercraft come and go in the distance, a geyser erupts nearby every hour on the hour, and a low-slung table and chair await you as a breeze blows through the open-air eatery. This is Geyser Point, and it’s intoxicating. No joke; this place is worth the planes, trains, and automobiles it takes to get here without a morsel of food even crossing your lips.

My visit to Geyser Point last week was on a gorgeous evening, which only enhanced the deliciousness of the food being served. While this place bears the name “Bar and Grill,” like the recently debuted Wailulu Bar & Grill at the Polynesian Island Tower, this place is anything but. It’s elevated, it’s relaxed, and the food perfectly pairs with its environment.

While there are concoctions of all types on the menu, I steer toward nonalcoholic versions. There are two mocktails on the menu, though, to be fair, they are more smoothie than mocktail. That being said, my choice during this visit was to try the Lava Smoothie, which was delicious. Sweet and cold, the Lava Smoothie features a pineapple slushie base with a ribbon of raspberry puree. It was a hit, and I’ll be sure to order it again the next time that I stop by for a meal.

My husband opted for the classic Geyser Point entree: the Bison Cheeseburger ($25). If you’ve grown weary of the all-too-often frozen Disney burger, this is your reprieve. Friends, this burger, along with the Steakhouse 71’s Stack Burger, need to be added to your list of must-eat Walt Disney World burgers. Eventually, I’ll write about the third Disney burger that I’d add to that list, but that’s an article for another time. Ahem.
If you’re at all nervous about the possible taste of bison, please let me reassure you that, as far as the Bison Cheeseburger is concerned, it’s not at all gamey. It’s moist and meaty, and everything you want in a good burger. The chefs at Geyser Point take it to the next level by topping the cheeseburger off with marionberry sauce, onion straws, and a lovely garlic aioli. Heavenly.

I would typically order the burger as well, but this time, I opted to go for something that might have a slightly lighter feel to it. I chose the Turkey BLT Sandwich, and I think it may have been the best turkey sandwich I’ve ever eaten.
This BLT was crafted using ingredients that worked together masterfully: peppercorn turkey, smoky Gouda, and candied bacon. We should all have more candied bacon in our lives, in my opinion. Suffice it to say, I didn’t miss the burger one bit. And I might even opt for the BLT again the next time I’m there. It was that good.
So what about you? Is a meal at Geyser Point Bar & Grill something that you, well, make a point to do during your Walt Disney World visits?
