Is the Disney Dining Plan Worth It for a One-Night Stay?
Whether you’re traveling for a very brief weekend getaway or visiting Disney World for a pre- or post-cruise stay, sometimes a one-night stay is all you need. If you’re accustomed to adding the Disney Dining Plan to your resort stays, is it still worthwhile for just a one-night, two-day stay?
If You’re Traveling with Children Ages 3 to 9
Throughout 2026, children ages 3 to 9 get the Disney Dining Plan for free with the purchase of the plan for the guests ages 10 and up on the resort reservation. This can really tip the scale and make the math work well for you.
For example, a family of 4 with 2 children between the ages of 3 and 9 would pay $197.18 for the one-night stay ($98.59 per adult). If that family went for character dining at Chef Mickey’s or 1900 Park Fare, that would normally cost $69 per adult and $44 per child for a total of $226. This means that with just a table service dinner, that family would more than break even on the dining plan! That doesn’t include the value they would get out of the quick service credits, snack credits, and refillable resort mugs.
For 2027, the promotion changes. You’ll save up to 20% off of the Disney Dining Plan for children 3 to 9 with the purchase of the plan for guests ages 10 and up, so the numbers play out slightly differently. That same family of 4 would be paying about $263.62 ($99.87 per adult and $31.94 per child), so you would need to make up the remaining $37.62 through the quick service and snack credits, which is more than doable.
If You Enjoy Alcoholic Beverages
When using the dining plan, your quick service meal credit and your table service meal credit can include an alcoholic beverage. If you’re not big on character dining (typically one of the best uses for your table service credit), drinks can be a good way to get more value out of your credits compared to just ordering soda, tea, or juice.

If you can maximize your credits with alcoholic beverages, you can more than break even on the dining plan without character dining and without making use of the kids’ dining promotions.
How to Add the Disney Dining Plan to Your DVC Rental
If you have an upcoming DVC rental reservation, you can add the Disney Dining Plan. Go to the DVC Rental Store Guest Center, and under the Upcoming Vacations tab, go to your resort reservation.
