At Which DVC Resort Should I Rent Points For a Trip with Little Ones?
When you travel to Disney World with young children, where you stay can make a big impact on your experience from the transportation to the amenities. Here is where you may want to rent DVC points when you travel with little ones.
Bay Lake Tower
If your travel party includes little ones, chances are that you will be spending a good deal of time at the Magic Kingdom. Bay Lake Tower is the closest DVC resort to the Magic Kingdom—it’s less than a 10 minute walk or a monorail ride away. This saves time getting to the park and makes it easy to return to your room for naptime or a midday break.
Young kids can also enjoy the crafts and games at the community hall at Bay Lake Tower. In terms of dining, it’s convenient to cross the Skybridge from Bay Lake Tower to the Contemporary for Contempo Cafe for quick service breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or the classic character buffet at Chef Mickey’s for breakfast or dinner where you can meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, and Daisy.
Little ones don’t always make it to the end of the night for fireworks, but Bay Lake Tower has wonderful fireworks views from its Theme Park View villas as well as a few Lake View or Standard View rooms. This makes it easy for parents to enjoy Happily Ever After from the balcony after their kids go to sleep.
Animal Kingdom Lodge
If your child is fascinated by animals, there’s no better place to stay than at Animal Kingdom Lodge where there are more than 200 animals! This includes zebras, giraffes, gazelles, several species of birds, and more! If you don’t opt to stay at a Savanna View room, you can still spot lots of animals through the public viewing areas.
Beyond watching the animals, kids can enjoy Simba’s Cub House, which is the community hall at Jambo House. In addition to visiting the pools at both Jambo House and Kidani Village, kids can let off some steam at the playground that is adjacent to the pool at Jambo House.
While the Mara, Boma, Jiko, and Sanaa all offer some more adventurous menu items, there is always something for even picky eaters to enjoy. For example, you’ll find basics like pizza and chicken strips at the Mara or macaroni and cheese at the buffet at Boma.
Polynesian
The Polynesian is a good choice for trips with young children for many of the same reasons as Bay Lake Tower. While it may not be walking distance from the Magic Kingdom, it still offers the monorail and a boat to get to the theme park.
The rooms themselves are also great for traveling with little kids. The Deluxe Studios in the longhouses are very spacious and have split bathrooms, which can give you a convenient spot to place a pack and play to give your child a quiet separate space to nap or sleep. Just like Bay Lake Tower, some rooms also allow parents to watch fireworks from the balcony. Some Preferred Deluxe Studios in the original DVC longhouses have views of the Magic Kingdom, as do any Theme Park View villas in the Island Tower.
Between the amenities at the Polynesian and its new addition, the Island Tower, kids can enjoy two different feature pools. The original Lava Pool has a waterfall, slide, and splash pad, and the new Cove Pool includes a Moana-themed splash pad that is perfect for little ones.
The Polynesian offers lots of kid-friendly dining options, such as the Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch at ‘Ohana or Capt. Cook’s quick service that serves chicken strips and macaroni and cheese. At Kona Cafe, more adventurous kids can order the kids’ sushi while pickier eaters may prefer the chicken tacos or cheeseburger.
Try Bay Lake Tower, Animal Kingdom Lodge, or the Polynesian when you take your little ones on a Disney World vacation. Save big on your accommodations by renting DVC points through the DVC Rental Store!
