Why Disney Cruise Line Isn’t Just for Kids

August 6, 2024

Disney Cruise Line is probably the most kid-friendly cruise line around, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy an adult-only trip aboard their ships!  With fine dining and adult-exclusive beaches and entertainment, there’s plenty for guests 18 and older.

Upscale Dining

While the rotational dining aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships is included within your fare, the ships also offer fine dining at adult exclusive restaurants for an additional fee.  The Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy have the Italian-inspired Palo for brunch and dinner, and the Dream and Fantasy also offer French fare for brunch and dinner at Remy.  On the Wish, there’s French cuisine at Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement and Italian cuisine and steakhouse specialties at Palo Steakhouse, both inspired by Beauty and the Beast.

Spas

Aboard the Disney cruise ships, you’ll find the Senses Spa for guests 18 and older.  Guests can get pampered with spa and beauty treatments and then relax in the rainforest-themed aromatherapy steam rooms or dry saunas.  On the Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy, the Spa Villas feature private open-air verandahs, showers, loungers, and personal whirlpools. On the Wish, guests can lounge around the Outdoor Oasis.

Adults-Only Beaches

Serenity Bay

For itineraries that travel to Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay, guests can visit Serenity Bay, a beach reserved for guests 18 and older.  This part of the beach is quieter than the Castaway Family Beach.  Adults can lounge on the beach or enjoy frozen drinks from the Castaway Air Bar and lunch from Air Bar BBQ.

On Disney’s newest private island, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, there will also be an adult-exclusive beach, dining area, bars, and cabanas.

Lounges, Nightclubs, and Bars

The Bayou

At night, adults can hangout in the many lounges, nightclubs, and bars on each of the ships.

On Deck 3 of the Wonder, there’s the After Hours section for adults, which includes Crown & Fin Pub, Cadillac Lounge, and Azure, an ocean-themed nightclub.  The Magic also has its own After Hours section, which is where you’ll find Fathoms, Keys, and O’Gill’s Pub.

Aboard the Dream, the adults-only District includes several different lounges and nightclubs, such as Pub 687, District Lounge, Evolution, Pink: Wine and Champagne Bar, and Skyline.  Similarly, the Fantasy’s adults-only section is Europa.  Its nightclubs, lounges, and bars include La Piazza, O’Gills Pub, Ooh La La, Skyline, and The Tube.

Unlike the other ships, the Wish has its lounges, bars, and nightclubs located throughout the ship rather than in one district.  There’s Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge, the Cinderella-themed Nightingale’s piano bar, The Bayou that is themed after The Princess and the Frog, The Rose that is inspired by Beauty and the Beast, Keg and Compass, and Luna.

Beverage Tastings

Each ship offers a variety of beverage tasting events.  From beer and bourbon to champagne and chocolate & liquor pairings, there are lots of tastings to choose from.  Guests can even take a mixology class and learn how to make layered shots, margaritas, martinis, and more.  They can reserve these events online or during the cruise if spots are available.
