Disney’s Hollywood Studios: What’s Coming to The Magic of Disney Animation?
If you love Disney animated films and dream of visiting the Walt Disney Animation Studios lot, the reimagined Animation Courtyard and the new Magic of Disney Animation are must-dos for your next Disney World vacation! This new area of Hollywood Studios is inspired by the Walt Disney Studios lot and offers animation-inspired experiences for the whole family. From dancing with Mickey and Minnie to meeting your favorite Disney characters and drawing with Olaf, here’s what to check out.
Animation Courtyard
Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!
Families with little ones are likely familiar with the popular Disney Jr. series Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse+. Now you can join Mickey and Minnie and clap and dance along as they search for their pals Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto before the big party. The 20-minute stage show currently takes place in the soundstage at 10:15am, 11:15am, and 12:15pm.
The Magic of Disney Animation
Within the Magic of Disney Animation building, you’ll find nods to all 64 animated feature films through sketches, maquettes, and more as well as tributes to the artists from Walt Disney Animation Studio’s Ink and Paint Department. The Magic of Disney Animation is organized into 4 different sections: Drawn to Wonderland, Off the Page, Olaf Draws, and Once Upon A Studio Theater.
Drawn to Wonderland
This “curiouser and curiouser playground” takes inspiration from the Alice in Wonderland concept art from Disney Legend Mary Blair with its bold colors and whimsical shapes. Kids can play, climb, and create at the Mad Tea Party, Mad Hatter’s House, Queen of Hearts’ rose garden, and the Cheshire Cat’s Tugley Wood. There are also separate play areas for children 6 months to 23 months and 2 years to 3 years. It’s a much needed spot at Hollywood Studios for children to burn off some energy!
Off the Page
Each department in Off the Page offers meet and greets with different Disney characters. In the Story department, you can take pictures with Mulan in front of an oversized storyboard. In the Layout department, you can meet Rapunzel and take photos with a special layered background that is inspired by the classic multiplane camera. You’ll also find Chip ‘n Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation, Donald and Daisy in Computer Animation, Goofy in Lighting, and Stitch in Effects.
Learn to Draw with Olaf
Channel your inner artist and learn to sketch with an Audio-Animatronic Olaf! Recordings from Disney Animation artists will provide step-by-step instructions, tips, and techniques. Guests will get to sketch both classic and modern Disney characters, such as:

- Judy Hopps & Nick Wilde
Once Upon A Studio Theater
Take a seat in the theater, and watch the Emmy-Award-winning short film Once Upon A Studio, which inspired the Magic of Disney Animation. As you watch, you may even notice some characters popping up on the theater walls for a little extra magic.
