Minimum Number of DVC Points Members Can Rent Out
If you’ve planned your trips for the year and know that you will have some DVC points left over, renting is a great way to turn those points into cash. Should you only have a small number of points left unused, you may be wondering: what’s the minimum number of points that you can rent out?
You Need Enough Points for at Least One Night
When you rent out DVC points, you’re essentially booking a reservation on behalf of a Guest; you’re not transferring your points to someone else. This means that you need to have at least enough points to book one night in order to rent points out. While the cheapest possible DVC room to book is a Value Studio at Jambo House in September for only 8 points a night, that can be a very difficult room to reserve based on availability.
Most Deluxe Studios with better availability can go for about 10 to 30 points per night. For example, a Deluxe Studio at Saratoga Springs can range from 9 to 28 points per night depending on the travel period and whether it’s a Preferred or Standard Deluxe Studio.

What Can I Do with Only a Few Points Left?
If you have unused points, but you don’t have quite enough to rent out a single night, you have a few options:
- Bank Points – If you are not yet past your banking deadline, you can always save those points for the next Use Year instead of renting them out.
- Borrow Points – Rented points don’t have to be from the current Use Year. If you have extra points to use in your next Use Year, you can use borrowed points too for a rental reservation.
- Add One-Time-Use Points – These are points that you can purchase by calling Member Services. These points cost $22.50 per point, so this would only make sense if you are just short a couple of points to be able to book a reservation for a rental.
Turn your unused DVC points into cash by renting them out! Create a Member Account on the DVC Rental Store website, and start browsing the guest requests or consider renting a confirmed reservation.
