Trattoria al Forno: The BEST Comfort Food to Start Your Disney Day!

February 4, 2025
By

Perhaps it’s the chilly weather that we’re having lately, but I’ve got a warm and cozy Walt Disney World breakfast on my mind. When I began considering which dining location would be the comfiest way to start the day, my thoughts immediately went to a spot found at Disney’s BoardWalk: Trattoria al Forno.

I know you might we wondering as to why in the world you should begin your Disney day at an Italian restaurant; hang with me here. The inviting Italian restaurant that you enjoy for dinner transforms into the perfect breakfast location in the morning. Its deeply-colored walls cause you to feel cocooned from the start, and the food will fill you up in the most comforting way.

Any breakfast that I enjoy on Walt Disney World property has to begin with coffee, and if you’re a coffee snob (said with love, of course), please order the press pot that features Joffrey’s blend that’s been created just for Trattoria al Forno. It’s the loveliest cup of coffee with notes of chocolate and berries.

As far as entrees go, I can’t recommend the Al Forno Eggs ($17) highly enough. It’s a warm bowl of the very best of breakfast favorites, in my mind. The dish begins with a generous portion of Trattoria’s creamy polenta. Fennel sausage can be found throughout the polenta, which brings added heartiness to the dish. Aside: if you’ve never had fennel sausage, you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s absolutely fantastic and tastes slightly celery-adjacent. The dish is finished with two eggs your way (I suggest over easy) and Trattoria’s incredible – and slightly spicy – tomato sauce. Crunchy, toasty, olive oil-drizzled country bread is served with the entree.

If pizza for breakfast more your style, you can start your day with the Sunrise Breakfast Pizza ($14). My father-in-law loved this dish. A pizza crust, made in Trattoria al Forno’s own pizza oven, is topped with sausage, bacon and fluffy scrambled eggs. Yummmm.

A stand-out among the breakfast offerings is their Oak-grilled Steak and Eggs ($21). The steak is prepared in the most glorious fashion, and you can absolutely discern that it was grilled over oak. Please get this. The entree comes with sunny side up eggs, hearty breakfast potatoes, and hollandaise sauce.

If you’re looking for the restaurant’s take on a traditional breakfast, look no further than the Two Eggs Your Way ($16). It is as the title suggests, and my mom-in-law opted to go for her eggs over easy with a side of bacon. The breakfast potatoes are the stand out here, and were quite good.

I’m a complete sucker when it comes to yogurt parfaits, and when I saw one on the menu, I knew that I needed to order it. Friends, I was so very glad that I did. The Freshly Harvested Fruit Plate ($15) can be found in the “Lighter Entrees” portion of the menu, and I did a little happy dance when it arrived to the table. A large bowl filled with yogurt came topped with all sorts of fresh fruit, was sprinkled with a generous serving of granola, and drizzled with honey. Good heavens, this was $15 well spent. The fruit featured was everything from apple slices to blueberry compote, and it was perfect. I ordered this as a sharable side, and my gosh, it was delightful.

If you’re looking to begin your EPCOT day – or any Disney park day, for that matter – with a little comfort food during these chillier winter mornings, you can’t go wrong starting it with breakfast at Trattoria al Forno. And even better is the fact that you’ll be in the middle of the ambiance of the BoardWalk as the FriendShip boats are moving guests to parks and nearby shops begin to open. That, my friends, is a perfect win-win.
