Tips for Staying in a DVC Villa with an Infant
Traveling to Disney World with an infant can be a whole new world, even for seasoned Disney fans. However, staying at a DVC resort can make it a lot easier. The One Bedroom Villas and larger units have a full kitchen, washer, and dryer, which are especially convenient for traveling with a little one. Even the kitchenettes in the Deluxe Studios have their perks. Below are some tips on what to request, bring, or have shipped to make your stay with an infant a little easier!
Items Can You Request from Your Resort
Disney makes it easy to set up your room for your baby. You can request items like a crib, pack and play, or high chair from housekeeping upon your arrival. Some guests like to bring their own fitted sheets for the crib or pack and play, but Disney can provide them for you.
Helpful Supplies to Bring for the Room
Since you can’t request a diaper pail for your DVC villa, good alternatives are either disposable diaper pails or a roll of waste bags in which you can toss dirty diapers. Those bags are also great to keep in your diaper bag for any soiled clothes.
If you’re staying in a Studio, you have access to free laundry rooms, which are great for those soiled clothes, but you will need to purchase or bring detergent. Some guests find it easiest to pack detergent pods and fabric softener sheets. If you’re staying in a One Bedroom Villa or larger, you’ll find detergent in your villa, but you may want to bring fabric softener.
To wash bottles and any pump parts, it’s helpful to bring a travel drying rack and bottle brush. (You won’t need to worry about dishwashing liquid since that is provided.) If you need to sterilize bottles and pump parts, the microwaveable sterilization bags are convenient, especially when staying in a studio.
For babies who are sensitive to noise, a white noise machine can be helpful for naps and bedtime. The small, portable ones can also be good for stroller naps.
Items You Can Have Shipped or Delivered
To save room in your suitcase, you can have bulkier items like packages of diapers, wipes, and baby food shipped to your resort. You can also have any important items you forgot shipped to your room, such as a stroller rain cover or stroller fan. Note that there is a $6 handling fee per package that is received by the resort front desk or delivered to your room.
You can also rent a stroller if you prefer to avoid the hassle of traveling with yours. The DVC Rental Store recommends Kingdom Stroller Rentals. They offer safe and sanitized premium strollers with free delivery and pick up at your resort. You can save up to 50% compared to theme park rental prices!
