Tips for Solo Trips to Disney World
Traveling alone may sound daunting, but it can be a very liberating experience. You can do whatever you want whenever you want! Here are some tips to help you make the most of your solo trip to Disney World.
Turn to Your Bucket List
Trips with friends and family are fun, but this is your chance to try whatever your travel companions wouldn’t be interested in. Go for that tour you’ve been eyeing. Book the restaurant that you’ve always wanted to try! Is there a resort that you love but doesn’t always work well for the rest of your travel group? Here’s your chance to enjoy it.
Tour the Parks at Whatever Pace You Like
Whether you are an early riser who loves to rope drop or you like a more leisurely start to your day, you can do as you please on a solo trip. Go on as many or as few attractions as you would like; it’s up to you!
Look for Attractions with Single Rider Lines
Single rider lines sometimes have a shorter wait time than the regular standby lines. You can find single rider lines at the following attractions:
- Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
- Test Track
While rides like Space Mountain and Soarin’ don’t have formal single rider lines, you’ll sometimes find cast members asking for parties of one to fill in a ride vehicle, which can also make for a short wait.
Check Out Bars, Lounges, or To-Go Orders
If you feel a little awkward eating out alone but don’t want to dine at quick service restaurants for the whole trip, bars, lounges, and to-go orders can be a nice happy medium. Bars and lounges often offer similar menu items as their sister restaurants.
With to-go orders, you can place mobile orders via the My Disney Experience app at select table service restaurants and then dine in your room. You’ll find this option at Ale & Compass, Geyser Point Bar & Grill, Kona Cafe, Olivia’s Cafe, Sanaa, Steakhouse 71, Three Bridges Bar and Grill, and Trattoria Al Forno. Another perk of lounges and to-go orders is that you don’t need a reservation.
