DVC Rental Rules 2026: What the New Commercial Use Policy Means for Renting Points

March 31, 2026
By

In response to Disney Vacation Club’s newly released Policy Regarding Commercial Use of Vacation Points, DVC Rental Store is reaffirming its commitment to providing a safe, secure, and fully compliant platform for Members and Guests.

The updated policy introduces, for the first time, clearly defined parameters outlining what constitutes allowable rental activity versus prohibited commercial use, along with specific enforcement measures for violations. While these updates bring greater clarity to the DVC landscape, they also reinforce the importance of responsible, occasional renting in alignment with Disney Vacation Club’s intended use of Membership.

Clear Definitions Reinforce Responsible Renting

Disney Vacation Club’s March 31st, 2026 update establishes more concrete guidelines around rental activity, helping to distinguish between:

  • Allowable Use: Occasional rentals by Members who primarily use their points for personal vacations
  • Commercial Use: Frequent or repeated rental activity, large-scale reservation patterns, or behavior resembling a business operation

The updated policy also introduces more specific examples of activity that may be considered commercial in nature. Among them, DVC notes that making more than 20 reservations within a 12-month period, particularly when a majority are not used by the Member or their associates, may be one of several factors used to evaluate commercial use. As with all aspects of the policy, these guidelines are considered collectively and interpreted at Disney Vacation Club’s discretion.

With defined criteria such as reservation frequency, usage patterns, and advertising activity, Members now have clearer direction than ever before on how to remain within DVC guidelines.

A Model Built Around Compliance and Protection

Since its founding, DVC Rental Store has operated with a model designed specifically for Members who wish to rent their points responsibly and occasionally, not for those engaging in high-volume or commercial-style activity.

These latest updates further validate that approach.

“As Disney Vacation Club continues to clarify and define the line between allowable rental activity and commercial use, our focus remains exactly where it has always been – protecting our Members and our Guests,” said Paul Krieger, President of DVC Rental Store. “As a third-party service, DVC Rental Store is committed to helping Members navigate these guidelines with confidence, ensuring they understand and follow Disney Vacation Club’s policies when renting their points. At the same time, we remain equally dedicated to protecting our Guests, providing them with a safe and reliable way to rent points and enjoy a truly memorable Disney vacation experience. As these updates take shape, we will continue to prioritize these efforts every step of the way.”

Why These Updates Matter for Members

With clearer rules now in place, the distinction between allowable rental activity and commercial use is easier to understand, but also more important than ever to evaluate carefully.

For Members, navigating these updated guidelines requires a clear understanding of how Disney Vacation Club defines usage patterns, frequency, and intent.

DVC Rental Store continues to focus on supporting Members who are looking to rent their points occasionally, providing a structured process that emphasizes transparency, education, and responsible rental practices.

Rather than navigating evolving policies alone, Members have access to a team experienced in the DVC rental landscape, helping them better understand how these updates may apply to their individual situations.

Continued Value for Guests

For Guests, DVC Rental Store continues to provide a trusted way to experience Deluxe Disney Resort accommodations at significant savings.

With a secure booking process and dedicated support team, Guests can confidently plan their vacations knowing their reservation is handled with care and professionalism.

Looking Ahead

Disney Vacation Club’s latest policy marks an important step toward greater clarity and consistency across the Membership. As these guidelines are implemented, DVC Rental Store remains committed to adapting alongside them, always with a focus on compliance, transparency, and the best interests of both Members and Guests.
