Point Swap Programs: Use Your DVC Points for Other Vacations and Experiences

March 8, 2022
By

DVC members know that they have decades of magical Disney vacations to come, but what happens when they want to try a different destination or experience for vacation?  While Disney’s point exchanges for Disney Cruise Line and Adventures by Disney are steep, and exchanges through Interval International may not always feel like a great value for your points, DVC Rental Store offers some great alternatives through its Point Swap Programs.  These programs allow you to use your DVC points for other vacations without blackout dates, the usual $95 point exchange fee that Disney Vacation Club charges, or any restrictions for DVC points purchased on the resale market.

DVC Rental Store offers four different Point Swap Programs: Cruise Swap, Adventure Swap, Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Swap, and Vacation Home Swap.

Use your points to board the Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy, or even Disney’s newest ship, the Wish!  You’ll get all of the Disney magic that you love from character experiences to live shows but in a more relaxed setting on the seas.  You can travel to ports of call in the Caribbean and Bermuda, Alaska, the Mediterranean, Hawaii, and more.

Put your points towards an Adventures by Disney trip, and explore destinations around the world from Europe to Antarctica.  Go on land adventures, expedition cruises, or river cruises, all led by Disney-trained guides and local experts.

Looking for intergalactic travel?  Swap your points to make a trip to Disney’s new Galactic Starcruiser where you will be immersed in a story that is out of this world.  Whether your allegiance is with the Resistance or the First Order, this is an action-packed, interactive experience unlike anything Disney has offered before.

Vacation Home Swap

Use your points to rent Beaches & Dreams, a luxury beach house in Anna Maria Island, Florida.  This 4 bedroom/6 bathroom 3,000 square foot house has beautiful panoramic views of the bay, a private beach, a large pool with 2 waterfalls, an outdoor bar, a 3-hole putting green, a multi-cade system with over 60 games, and much more to keep your family and guests entertained.

How Do the Point Swap Programs Work?

You’ll work with an experienced Swap Advisor who will help you find the cruise or trip that suits your needs.  Then you will receive a quote with the total cost of the vacation and the number of points you need to rent to cover that cost.  If you don’t have the full amount of points needed, you can pay cash to make up the difference.  Once the quote is finalized, DVC Rental Store will take care of renting your points and booking your trip.

The Point Swap Programs not only give your points greater flexibility, but they also provide greater value compared to using points to book directly with Disney.  To illustrate, let’s take a closer look at the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Swap.  If you were to book a 2-night voyage for 2 adults and 1 child that starts on June 1, it would cost 937 points plus a $95 point exchange fee if you were to book directly through Disney.  However, if you were to rent points via DVC Rental Store’s Point Swap Program for up to $16 per point, you would only need 331 points, and there would not be an exchange fee.  Compared to booking through Disney, the Point Swap Program would provide a total savings of 606 points and $95 in exchange fees.

Interested in taking part in a Point Swap Program?  Fill out an inquiry form for Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney, the Galactic Starcruiser, or the Beaches & Dreams vacation home, and a Swap Advisor will be in touch to help you get the most value for your points.
