Exploring Disney’s Old Key West Resort
Disney’s Old Key West Resort is the original Disney Vacation Club Resort and is a sentimental favorite among some DVC Members. However, it often gets passed over for other DVC resorts that are closer to the parks. While it is true that all of the parks are a bus ride away, there are several reasons why Old Key West Resort is worth a try!
Old Key West Resort has Recently Renovated Rooms
In 2019, Disney’s Old Key West Resort finished it’s refurbishment, bringing a brighter, more modern look to the villas that still feels true to the resort’s Key West theming and laid-back style. The hard goods refurbishment included new furniture and appliances. The main lobby building, Hospitality House, was also refreshed in 2021 with multiple smaller check-in desks taking the place of a single larger one and the addition of more seating areas for waiting guests.
Reasonable Points Chart
Disney’s Old Key West Resort is the original DVC resort with some of the lowest points charts. You can stay in a Deluxe Studio for as few as 9 points per night. You can even get a Three Bedroom Grand Villa for as low as 46 points a night, which is an incredible value for the space!
Although there are two different booking categories available at Old Key West (Standard and Near Hospitality House), it is worth noting that there is no difference in the cost of points between the two. This means that you can stay in a villa closer to all the resort amenities like the lobby, Olivia’s Cafe, the Sandcastle Pool, Conch Flats General Store, and Conch Flats Community Hall without spending any extra points.
Larger Rooms at Disney’s Old Key West Resort
Another advantage to this older DVC resort is the larger villas. Disney’s Old Key West Resort has some of the largest villas among all of the DVC resorts. For example, a 1-Bedroom Villa at Old Key West is 1,005 square feet, whereas a 1-Bedroom Villa is 726 square feet at Riviera and 803 square feet at Bay Lake Tower. The extra space at Old Key West really gives you the feeling of having a home away from home.
Access to Disney Springs
As with Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Old Key West offers easy access to Disney Springs via boat. You can take one of the Sassagoula Boats from the boat dock located next to Hospitality House to the Disney Springs Marketplace dock.
Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course
Golf fans will be happy to know that Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course winds through Old Key West! Some guest rooms have views of the course. If you’d like to play on this championship golf course, DVC Members can receive an exclusive savings! Members who are eligible for Membership Extras can also save 15% off on the guest golf rate.
