DVC Resort Activities: Animal Kingdom Lodge
It’s no secret that Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the best places to stay for a resort-only vacation! From viewing the animals on the savannas to creating your own mosaic, there are plenty of activities at both Jambo House and Kidani Village, the two buildings that make up the resort. Be sure to check with the recreation calendar or the resort’s cast members since the activities and schedule are subject to change. Let’s take a look at some of the Animal Kingdom Lodge resort activities available to Guests of this DVC property!
All About the Animals
From Kidani Village, you can hop aboard a safari vehicle for a one-hour nighttime expedition. You’ll use night vision devices to look for the over 30 species of animals on the savanna. This tour costs $89 per person and can be booked in My Disney Experience. Guests must be 8 years of age or older.
From 6pm to 7pm, go to the Pembe Savanna Overlook at Kidani Village to borrow night vision devices and spot the animals after dark.
Head to the Kidani Village – Resort Lobby Terrace or Jambo House – Uzima Overlook and meet with an Animal Keeper to create interactive objects, such as puzzle feeders, for the resort’s animals.
Arts and Crafts
Wild About Painting
Join a painting class at Jiko – The Cooking Place over at Jambo House! This activity is held on Wednesdays at 1pm for guests age 12 and up. Register in advance by emailing WDW.DAKL.Recreation.Reservations@disney.com. Note that there is a $35 fee for this activity.
African Mosaic Art
At the Kidani Village Palace Library, create your own mosaic. This activity is held on Tuesdays at 1:30pm for guests age 12 and up. Register in advance by emailing WDW.DAKL.Recreation.Reservations@disney.com. Note that there is a fee for this activity.
Kidani Village has a community hall that offers arts and crafts plus other activities like video games and billiards. It is also where you can borrow sports equipment for the and grilling tools for the barbeque area.
Outside of Pumbaa’s Fun and Games Arcade at Jambo House, you will find different arts and crafts offerings depending on the day of the week. These activities include Make Your Own African Bangles, Design Your Own Safari Sipper, and Mickey Tie-Dye. In the Jambo House Lobby, you can also design your own safari tote. At Simba’s Activity Center, you can design your own African jewelry and ceramics.
At the Kidani Village Samawati Springs Pool, you can make your own African bangles or tumbler, or do Mickey Tie-Dye.
Each of these crafts are for a fee.
More Resort Activities
These are available by the Kidani Village Samawati Springs Pool and the Jambo House Uzima Springs Pool. Cast members lead guests in games like trivia and races.
Go to Pumbaa’s Fun and Games Arcade at Jambo House or Safari So Good Arcade at Kidani Village. Both are open from 8am to 11pm daily. Between 3:30pm and 4:30pm, you can compete in the daily arcade tournament in either arcade!
Trade with other pin enthusiasts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at Jambo House, near Zawadi Marketplace.
Movie Under the Stars
Watch your favorite Disney movies outside! At Kidani Village, this takes place at the Pembe Savanna Overlook. At Jambo House, it takes place at the Hakuna Matata Playground.
Both Jambo House and Kidani Village have fitness centers. At Jambo House, it’s the Zahanati Massage & Fitness Center; at Kidani Village, it’s Survival of the Fittest Fitness Center. These centers feature Life Fitness and Cybex equipment and are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
