DON’T MISS Disney Character Dining: Topolino’s Terrace
Don’t you just love moments in the Walt Disney World parks and resorts that remind you that it’s okay to be a fan? It seems it’s en vogue these days to hate on Disney adults, but, around here, please consider yourself free to let all things Disney fandom fly. This blog is a safe space for us Disney adults, and I’m happy to say that I was reminded recently of how very fun it is to open yourself up to being a child at Disney. Enter Disney character dining, and Breakfast à la Art at Disney’s Riviera Resort.
I recently had the chance to get gussied up a bit and head over to Topolino’s Terrace with my hubby for breakfast. It was his first time enjoying breakfast at the location, and my third. A quick aside: how much fun is it to be a part of a Disney character experience with someone for the first time?! So. Much. FUN!
Characters
Breakfast à la Art offers guests the chance to meet four Disney friends in costumes that are exclusive to the location: Mickey Mouse wears his painter’s costume, Minnie dons a dress covered in her poetry, Daisy Duck is a prima ballerina, and Donald is a sculptor.
The characters will stop by your table throughout your meal and will periodically perform a little dance set that rotates the four characters through the different sections of the restaurant. We never lacked for character interaction during our time at Topolino’s.
Before being walked to our table, we were given a pre-autographed card. The glossy card is a perfect keepsake, but if you’ve brought along your own autograph book, never fear; the characters will both sign books and take pictures with guests.
Food
Here’s where Topolino’s Terrace takes a sharp turn away from the less-than-fabulous food we Disney fans may have become accustomed to at character dining locations. The food at Topolino’s is next-level.
Even the Avocado Toast, which one can find on literally every menu these days, is artistically prepared and features prosciutto. I don’t know about you, but I firmly believe that more things in everyday life should feature prosciutto. A perfectly poached egg and toy box tomatoes topped the whole thing off. Good heavens, the Avocado Toast, recommended by our server, was incredible.
My hubby chose the Wood-fired Steak and Eggs. The steak was tender, deeply flavorful, and rested on a bed of polenta. The breakfast potatoes were more like potato croquettes, which spoke to the elevated nature of the dish. Brian savored every bite.
The meal is begun with a selection of pastries made by the bakery team on the 11th floor of the Riviera Resort. You’ll find croissants, mini muffins studded with chocolate chips, and coffee cake inside the ceramic paint pot, as well as strawberry jam, butter and hazelnut spread on the side. It’s the perfect way to kickstart your experience at Topolino’s Terrace.
Don’t forget to order a glass of POG juice to accompany your breakfast; it’s included in the price of your meal. Coffee and tea are included as well.
Environment and Price
Topolino’s Terrace is a gorgeous space. It’s a signature dining location, and that’s apparent from the word go. The finishings are done in an antiqued brass and the delicate lighting fixtures are truly works of art.
Please don’t miss the chance to step onto the terrace during your visit; it’s Topolino’s Terrace, after all. You can see sweeping vistas of Riviera Resort, Caribbean Beach Resort, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and the Bonnet Creek resorts from the terrace.
At this time, the price for adults is $49, and children are $30.
We throughly enjoyed our Breakfast à la Art experience, and loved the elevated space and thoughtfulness behind the entrees. The overall experience was molto bene, and we’ll be back!
