Best DVC Resorts for Extended Stays

March 6, 2022
By

A few weeks ago, we talked about the best Disney Vacation Club resorts for short stays.

These are the places to book when you’re planning a three-day weekend or the like.

Today, we’ll take the opposite approach. After all, many people have accumulated historic vacation time during the pandemic. And now you’re ready to spend it!

Here are the best DVC resorts for extended stays.

Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas

I don’t care where you are right now. You’d rather be in Hawaii, right?

Everyone dreams of an exotic island getaway, and Hawaii’s one of the best options in the world.

The brilliance of the Disney Vacation Club program is that you needn’t limit yourself to theme parks. You could also spend a week on a beach somewhere.

Specifically, you could pick Vero Beach, Florida, or Hilton Head, South Carolina. Still, when you really want to lay down your burdens for a while, nothing tops Aulani

The Disney resort here wins awards for its gorgeous landscape, ample pools and restaurants, and unique Disney interactions.

At some point, every DVC points user should make their way to Aulani for a dream vacation. You deserve it, right?

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas

An integral part of an extended stay is the backdrop. So, naturally, you want to remain somewhere soothing and tranquil.

A remarkable number of DVC properties fit the bill for these parameters. Still, I favor Animal Kingdom Villas.

Part of the appeal stems from the animals. Those glorious Savannah View rooms afford you a view of all the animal habitats.

Your entire visit plays out like one big kawaii gif of cute critters frolicking.

Two other elements of this resort will enhance your vacation as well.

The lobby of Jambo House is among the most tranquil spots on the entire Walt Disney World campus.

I’ve taken many unplanned naps here because the place calms me so much.

Also, when you’re staying at a resort for a while, you’d rather have high-quality cuisine options. That way, you can eat at the hotel instead of the parks.

With Boma Flavors of Africa, Jiko – The Cooking Place, Sanaa, and The Mara, Animal Kingdom Lodge is overflowing with fine dining choices.

Disney’s BoardWalk Villas

What I just said about food applies here. Disney has blurred the line between hotels at the restaurant vs. the surrounding area. It’s a matter of semantics.

In execution, places like Flying Fish and Trattoria al Forno reside a short walk from your hotel room.

Similarly, Beaches & Cream Soda Shop and Cape May Café beckon from just across the water, a five-minute walk from you.

Then, there’s the real selling point. You’re staying close to the International Gateway, which means you’re only minutes away from the World Showcase.

So, during a long stay at BoardWalk Villas, you’ll have the run of the best international shopping and dining at Walt Disney World.

You can hop in and out of EPCOT whenever you like to grab whatever you want/need. And its proximity is that much better during festivals.

On those occasions, you’ll eat cheap at the World Showcase on top of all the other advantages!

Friends, there’s a reason why BoardWalk hotel rooms are challenging to book during festivals. Everybody in the program appreciates their value!

Disney’s Old Key West Resort

You’ll love this place for two reasons. First, when you’re spending at least a week at Disney, you’ll want to unpack and stretch your legs some.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll also take the “Welcome home!” philosophy seriously. You’ll have all your luggage contents tossed across the floor.

For this reason, you want lots of space during an extended stay. That’s where Old Key West really shines through, thanks to its enormous villas.

The villas cover 390 square feet of space, while the one-bedrooms are a whopping 942 square feet. They’re massive!

Also, you’ll find three different lighted tennis courts, a basketball and volleyball court, and the adjoining golf course here. It’s an outdoor hobbyist’s dream!

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa

If you paid careful attention to the short stay list, you’re noticing something right now.

Saratoga Springs claims the distinction of being the only DVC resort listed on both. That’s because it’s a multifaceted property that works well during short and long stays alike.

During quick visits, you’ll find everything you need at Disney Springs. When you hunker down for a week or more, you’ll appreciate the same access even more.

Also, the aforementioned golfing and tennis options apply to Saratoga Springs as well. Disney planned it as an extended stay facility.

So, the hotel grounds feature all the amenities you’d need…straight down to that spa day you deserve!
