A Look at Tiana’s Palace Restaurant

Tiana’s Palace Restaurant in Disneyland is a must-do for fans of “The Princess and the Frog”!  The quick service restaurant replaces the former French Market Restaurant in New Orleans Square. Let’s take a closer look at what you can find at Tiana’s Palace.

The Reimagined Space

Inspired by “The Princess and the Frog,” the restaurant has lots of fun details.  The marquee has green and yellow as a nod to Tiana’s ball gown, and the tables, chairs, and umbrellas are Mardi Gras colors.  There’s also a large mural of the bayou inside the restaurant and some of Tiana’s belongings on display. Guests will spot a childhood photo of Tiana, letters from Tiana’s father and neighbors, her father’s gumbo spoon, and some of Tiana’s cookbooks.  The design of Tiana’s Palace in “The Princess and the Frog” was actually inspired by the French Market Restaurant in Disneyland though Disney animators added the wheelhouse and smokestacks.  In creating the new restaurant for Disneyland, Disney Imagineers added the wheelhouse and smokestacks to make it look just like the one in the movie!

The Flavors of New Orleans

Entrees

The menu at Tiana’s Palace has New Orleans classics with a slight twist, such as the 7 Greens Gumbo, which is a plant-based gumbo with white beans, okra, yams, sweet potatoes, and heirloom rice.  You can also add chicken and andouille sausage to the 7 Greens Gumbo.  For a more traditional gumbo, there’s the House Gumbo with braised chicken, andouille sausage, and heirloom rice.

For something a little spicier, you can try the Cajun Spice Half Chicken with chicory BBQ sauce, baked macaroni and cheese, and coleslaw, or try the Gulf Shrimp and Grits.  The shrimp is tossed in a Creole sauce.

Other New Orleans-inspired dishes include the Muffuletta Sandwich with mortadella, salami, rosemary ham, cheddar, provolone, and a housemade olive relish on a sesame seed bread and the Beef Po-boy Sandwich with slow-cooked beef, gravy, shredded lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise on New Orleans French bread.  The sandwiches come with red beans, rice, and housemade pickles.

Kids’ Meals

Kids can choose from the Roasted Chicken Drumstick, Toasted Ham & Cheese, or Baked Macaroni and Cheese.  All kids’ meals come with a Cuties Mandarin Orange, applesauce, and DASANI Water or low-fat milk.

Dessert

Last but not least is the House-filled Beignet!  It has a lemon icebox pie filling and lemon glaze.

Tiana’s Palace is just one addition to New Orleans Square that will bring “The Princess and the Frog” to life.  Besides Tiana’s Palace, you’ll find Eudora’s Chic Boutique Featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Secrets. This store, named after Tiana’s dressmaker mother, has everything from home goods to apparel and accessories.  And of course, guests can look forward to the new attraction, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, in 2024!

If you’re a big fan of “The Princess and the Frog,” visit Disneyland to see Tiana’s story brought to life!  Book a stay at the Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa or the Villas at Disneyland Hotel to be in the middle of all the magic of Disneyland Resort.
