Why You Need to Book a Summer Vacation to Walt Disney World
Most Disney fans don’t need an excuse to book a summer vacation to Walt Disney World. However, the DVC Rental Store still has some great confirmed reservations for this July, August, and September. Plus, there are a few big events happening this summer that you won’t want to miss!
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
Just in time to kick off the unofficial start of summer, the much-anticipated Epcot attraction opened to the public on May 27. Guests visit the newest Epcot pavilion, the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion, where they can learn more about the Xandarian people and technologies. Let’s just say that things don’t exactly go as planned, and you’ll team up with Star-Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket, and Drax to save the galaxy. This reverse-launch coaster is sure to be a thrilling adventure!
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
This year the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival starts on July 14 and runs through November 19. In addition to offering many of the Global Marketplaces that feature delicious dishes and drinks, the Eat to the Beat concert series will include well-known artists and local bands who will perform on the American Gardens Theatre stage.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
After being replaced by the slightly paired-down Boo Bash after-hours event last year, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is back and better than ever! The party takes place on select nights starting from August 12 to October 31. It will include Mickey’s Boo-to-You Halloween Parade, Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular fireworks show, themed ride overlays, a Halloween-themed parade, the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular stage show, and of course, plenty of candy. Some attractions (Mad Tea Party, Space Mountain, and Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor) will even take part in the festivities with special overlays.
Tickets range from $109 to $199 for guests ages 10 and up and $99 to $189 for guests ages 3 to 9. DVC members and Annual Passholders get a $10 discount per ticket on select nights.
H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon
Another event that has returned this summer is H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon. This after-hours event takes place on Saturdays from May 28 through August 27 and offers shorter wait times for attractions, a DJ dance party, and snacks that are included with the cost of your ticket, which is $75 for guests ages 10 and up, $70 for guests ages 3 to 9. DVC members and Annual Passholders save $16 per ticket. Although the event is 3 hours long, you are also able to enter the park at 6pm, so you can get a couple of extra hours at Typhoon Lagoon.
