How to Purchase a Lightning Lane Pass at Disney World
Starting today, July 24th, Walt Disney World’s new Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass have replaced Disney Genie+ Service. We logged on early this morning to get an idea of how this new system works and walk you through how to purchase a Lightning Lane pass at Disney World!

Lightning Lane Multi Pass
By purchasing the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can select up to three Lightning Lane attractions at a theme park before your visit, choosing your preferred times. On the day of your visit, after using these selections, check the My Disney Experience app for availability to make additional choices.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
The Lightning Lane Single Pass functions similarly to how it does now, allowing you to reserve a time for one of the most popular attractions. However, you’ll now have the option to purchase and schedule in advance.
When Can You Purchase?
- Disney Resort Hotel Guests: Reserve Lightning Lane passes up to seven days before your stay (for a maximum of 14 days).
- All Other Guests: Book up to three days in advance.
- Purchasing begins at 7:00am, Eastern Time on the day you are eligible.
These early purchase windows allow guests to secure key rides and experiences after deciding on dining reservations and other plans.
Purchasing Process
Step 1: Ensure you have the most recent version of the My Disney Experience App downloaded and running on your Apple or Android smartphone.
Step 2: Open the app to see the ability to purchase your Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass front and center.
Purchasing a Lightning Lane Multi Pass
- Tap the Purchase Button: Located on the Home Screen of the My Disney Experience App.
- Select the Date: Choose the date you are looking to purchase the Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
- Choose Your Park: Select the park where you will choose your three included attractions. If you have a Park Hopper, you will have the option to select Lightning Lanes from other parks after those original attractions.
- View Pricing: Today, for example, Magic Kingdom Park costs $29 per guest for the Lightning Lane Multi Pass.
- Continue and Verify: Confirm the guest or guests you are purchasing the pass for.
- Select Rides: Disney groups rides into two tiers. Choose one high-demand attraction (e.g., Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain) and two lower-tier attractions (e.g., Haunted Mansion, it’s a small world).
- Finalize Selections: The system holds your selections for up to five minutes while you finalize and make your purchase. The app will choose the best available times for your attractions, but you can modify these if needed.
- Proceed with Payment: Once confirmed, complete the payment process.
Purchasing a Lightning Lane Single Pass
- Tap the Purchase Button: Located on the Home Screen of the My Disney Experience App.
- Select the Date: Choose the date you are looking to purchase the Lightning Lane Single Pass.
- Choose Your Park: Select the park and then view available Single Pass attractions (e.g., Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON: Lightcycle / Run).
- View Pricing: Today, for example, TRON is $20 per guest and Mine Train is $12 per guest.
- Continue and Verify: Confirm the guest or guests you are purchasing the pass for.
- Finalize Selection: The system holds your selection for up to five minutes while you finalize and make your purchase. The app will choose the best available time for your attraction, but you can modify this if needed.
- Proceed with Payment: Once confirmed, complete the payment process.
Managing Your Selections
Once purchased, your selections will be visible within the “My Day” tab of the My Disney Experience app or on the homepage. This will be your hub where you can make additional Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections throughout your day at Walt Disney World.
