Which DVC Resort Is Best for New Year’s Eve?
It may be the start of 2024, but if you’re looking to ring in the new year in 2025 at a DVC resort, now is the time to start planning! With DVC, you can book a trip as far out as 11 months from your desired check-in date. This means that guests can book trips to celebrate the new year in 2025 as early as the end of January 2024.
Since the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT are the parks that host special fireworks celebrations, here are the two areas that are best for New Year’s Eve.
Magic Kingdom Resorts
The Magic Kingdom can be extremely crowded for New Year’s, so staying at a monorail resort can be one of the best ways to watch fireworks without huge crowds. The monorail resorts include Bay Lake Tower, the Grand Floridian, and Polynesian.
From Bay Lake Tower, you can see fireworks from Top of the World Lounge, California Grill, and a few of the common areas off the Contemporary’s grand concourse. At the Polynesian, the beach is a popular fireworks spot while the marina by Gasparilla Island Grill is a prime location at the Grand Floridian. On New Year’s Eve, many of these areas are restricted to guests of these resorts. Cast members will check for guests’ wristbands that show they are staying at the resort.
At Bay Lake Tower and the Grand Floridian, you can stay in Theme Park View rooms to watch fireworks from your balcony. The Theme Park View booking category is available for Resort Studios at the Grand Floridian or any of the room types at Bay Lake Tower. At the Polynesian, many of the Lake View Deluxe Studios and any of the Bora Bora Bungalows provide a good view of the fireworks.
EPCOT Resorts
By staying at an EPCOT resort, you don’t have to brave the crowds or worry about a park ticket to see the fireworks. EPCOT’s New Year’s fireworks are visible from the Beach Club, BoardWalk, and Riviera. From the Beach Club and BoardWalk, some of the best viewing areas are on the bridge between the Beach Club and BoardWalk, the side of the boardwalk near Atlantic Dance Hall, or the bridge between the BoardWalk and the Swan and Dolphin Hotels. The Boardwalk View villas at the BoardWalk are also the perfect spots to watch the fireworks from your balcony. Over at Riviera, Topolino’s Terrace and some of the Standard View villas offer beautiful fireworks views.
If fireworks aren’t a priority, any of the DVC resorts are great on New Year’s Eve! Each of the resorts hosts special games and activities to celebrate. For instance, the BoardWalk held an “Aladdin”-themed celebration on the Village Green with a DJ, games, and crafts like sand art and decorate your own genie lamp. Across Crescent Lake, the Yacht and Beach Club hosted a “High School Musical”-themed bash with similar offerings such as a DJ, games, and a photo op.
