What to Do on Your Check-in or Checkout Days at Disney World
When it’s your check-in or checkout day, sometimes it doesn’t feel worthwhile spending money on a ticket for only a partial day at the theme parks. However, there’s still plenty to enjoy at Disney World without visiting the parks. Leave your luggage with bell services, and head out for some fun!
Head to the Water Parks
If you’re visiting Disney World in Summer 2027, you’ll get complimentary admission to the water parks on your check-in day as a guest of a Disney-owned-and-operated resort. This includes Guests who rent DVC reservations! The exact dates for this benefit in Summer 2027 are still to be announced, but this is a great way to enjoy Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon for free!
Make It a Pool Day
Even without the complimentary water park admission, you can still enjoy some pool time at your resort on your check-in or checkout day. DVC Resorts, such as the Beach Club, Polynesian, and Animal Kingdom Villas, have some of the best pool complexes among the Disney Resorts. If you’re concerned about where to wash up after your swim when you don’t yet have your room or you have already checked out, the resorts typically have showers in the restrooms near the pool areas.
Visit Disney Springs
Consider heading to Disney Springs on your check-in or checkout day for fun merchandise or those last minute souvenirs. This is an especially great option if you are staying at Old Key West or Saratoga Springs since both resorts are so close to Disney Springs. In addition to all the shopping and dining that Disney Springs has to offer, you can head to Splitsville for bowling, the AMC Theater to catch the latest films, or Level99 for some fun challenges. While bowling, movies, and games aren’t free, they are much less expensive than purchasing theme park tickets.
Explore the Resorts
Sometimes it’s even nice to simply enjoy the resorts themselves, and soak in the ambiance from the tropical vibes of the Polynesian to the elegant resort grounds of the Grand Floridian. Stroll the grounds, go for a surrey bike ride, play some games in the community hall, or just find some quiet spaces to relax. You can also treat yourself to a leisurely table service meal to unwind on your travel day. Whether it’s macadamia nut pancakes at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian, the southernmost buttermilk chicken from Olivia’s Cafe at Old Key West, or the bison cheeseburger at Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Wilderness Lodge, there are lots of crave-worthy options right at the resorts.
