Magic Kingdom Will Have a Parade Again

February 7, 2022
By

Star Wars fans with Galactic Starcruiser reservations are in luck! I’ll explain how in today’s DVC update.

How to Get the New Star Wars Merch

Do you have reservations for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser? If so, I have terrific news for you.

Disney has done something to reward you for your fandom. The company just revealed an exclusive line of Star Wars merchandise.

You can check out all this new gear at ShopDisney. But, unfortunately, there’s a catch.

You cannot buy anything there unless you currently hold Galactic Starcruiser reservations! In fact, they’re pretty hardcore about it.

Here’s a link to a Princess Leia outfit you might want for your child. Now, here are Disney’s stated rules about purchasing said outfit.

“Based on current shipping times, it is recommended that Guests order at least two weeks prior to leaving for their Walt Disney World Resort vacation.

Merchandise cannot be delivered to the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser location at this time.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser merchandise is available for purchase exclusively to Guests with a qualifying Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser reservation.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Guests will be eligible to purchase select merchandise on shopDisney.com up to 60 days prior to their reservation check-in date and up to 30 days after their check-out date.

In order to purchase, the email address used to sign into shopDisney must also be linked to your Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser reservation.”

You can’t see it, but I’m making my YIKES face. I mean, the outfit costs a reasonable $99…but then there’s the add-on fee of hundreds of DVC Points or thousands of dollars.

I’m going to rubberneck the merchandise revenue data for this new merchandise sales strategy. It seems high risk, low rewards to me.

Openings and Closings

Walt Disney World and Disneyland are undergoing many changes during the first quarter of 2022.

At Downtown Disney, Earl of Sandwich and Sugarboo & Co. have closed forever. Yes, I’ve said that before about Earl of Sandwich, but Disney really means it this time.

Park officials will repurpose this space and the former AMC Theatres locale to create new amenities.

Of course, we’ve known this was coming for several months. Still, I’ll miss Earl of Sandwich, which came back from the dead only to die again. Thankfully, we still have the one at Disney Springs.

In other Disneyland Resort news, Tale of the Lion King will return this summer. Disney hasn’t announced a date yet, but it’s reportedly hiring for the show right now.

At Walt Disney World, the Disney Skyliner refurb proved much ado about nothing.

Workers needed just three days to get it back up and running. That’s only 60 percent of what Disney had estimated. So, if you were visiting last week, it was less stressful than expected.

Similarly, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa finally remembered part of its name and reopened The Grand Floridian Spa. We still have no word about the various Senses Spas, though.

At Disney’s BoardWalk, Flying Fish returned after a nearly two-year delay.

This restaurant is legitimately among the most revered on the Disney campus. So, DVC guests at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas are grateful to have it back.

Magic Kingdom Park Updates

At Magic Kingdom, we’re tracking three significant returns/debuts. The first of them is Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade.

This Cavalcade includes many of your favorite Disney and Pixar characters. It debuts on February 11th, and the park has posted showtimes.

You can watch the newest Cavalcade daily at 11:15 a.m., 2:15 p.m., 4:05 p.m., and 5:50 p.m.

Please remember that the parks update their schedules regularly, though. So, keep checking to verify those performance times.

Two weeks later, on February 25th, Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire will debut at the Cinderella Castle stage area.

Magic Kingdom has also posted the initial schedule for this show. You can catch it at 12:15 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:45 p.m., 4:35 p.m., and 6:10 p.m.

Festival of Fantasy (Photo Credit: Disney)

Finally, the Festival of Fantasy Parade returns on March 9th. And yes, despite some recent rumors, the fire-breathing Maleficent dragon float remains part of the show!

Magic Kingdom doesn’t list an operating time for the Festival of Fantasy Parade at the time of publication.

However, depending on when you read this and click the link, the information may be available.

I will add that the last time Disney hosted the parade in March of 2020, it started at 3 p.m.

Looking at the schedules for the other two Magic Kingdom attractions here, 3 p.m. makes more sense than 2 p.m.

A parade at 2 p.m. followed by a Cavalcade at 2:15 p.m. seems excessive, no? So, you can plan for that timeline, albeit in air quotes.
