How to Stay Cool at Disney World
Summer is here, and so is the hot weather in Florida! Thankfully, there are some ways to make the heat more bearable, so you can enjoy your Disney World vacation. Here are a few tips to stay cool.
Start Your Day Early and Then Take an Afternoon Break
When you stay at a Disney resort, you can take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry. This gives you access to the parks 30 minutes prior to the official park opening time. Early entry lets you get first dibs on your favorite attractions and enjoy the cooler weather in the morning. Once the weather heats up, head back to your resort for an afternoon break and return after 4pm when the sun is less intense.
Enjoy Some Pool Time
As a guest of a DVC resort, you have access to some of the best resort pools on Dismey World property! When you are taking an afternoon break, you can cool down in the water, enjoy a poolside drink, or even rent a cabana.
Go Shopping
Ducking into the stores for the AC is very helpful to beat the heat, even just to window shop. In fact, in the Magic Kingdom, some of the stores are connected, so you can walk further into the park while staying in the AC. You can walk into the Emporium at the start of Main Street USA, through Disney Clothiers, and exit from Casey’s Corner near the hub in front of Cinderella Castle.
Book an Afternoon Dining Reservation
Eating a late lunch or an early dinner at a table service restaurant during the hottest part of the day can give you a nice break. Not only is it easier to book a dining reservation for an off-peak time, but having an afternoon reservation still leaves you plenty of time to enjoy the parks once the temperatures start to decrease for the day.
Focus on the Indoor Rides and Shows
If you want to stay out in the parks, head for the indoor rides and shows. Attractions such as Mickey’s Philharmagic, Space Mountain, Soarin’, Living with the Land, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Muppet Vision 3D are especially great since the queues are indoors as well.
Wear Light Clothing
Disney bounding and dressing up for photos can be a lot of fun, but in hot weather, go for the more practical outfits. Athletic wear can help keep you feeling cooler, especially since many have sweat-wicking fabrics.
Go for Extended Evening Theme Park Hours
A great perk of staying at a Deluxe Disney Resort, including the DVC resorts, is Extended Evening Theme Park Hours. This perk lets you enjoy the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT for a couple of hours after the theme park has closed to the general public. It’s a fun way to enjoy rides with shorter wait times after the sun goes down.
Bring Some Helpful Accessories
Some guests find that accessories like fans and cooling towels help them stay cool. Don’t forget to bring a stroller fan for any little ones in your family!
It’s not too late to book a summer getaway! Browse the confirmed reservations to find stays that have already been booked by DVC members and are waiting to be claimed.
