Halloween Fun in Disneyland

September 26, 2023

Walt Disney World isn’t the only Disney resort to host some frightful fun for Halloween!  Over in Disneyland, there’s plenty of ghoulish goodies and spooky specialties to check out from parties and attraction overlays to character dining and scavenger hunts.

This after hours party in Disney California Adventure takes place on select nights in September and October.  Tickets are sold out for this year, but if you already purchased them, you can look forward to treat trails, the Frightfully Fun parade with Mickey and friends as well as Disney villains, Mickey’s Trick and Treat live show, and character experiences.

Halloween Attraction Overlays

Even if you don’t attend Oogie Boogie Bash, you can still find Halloween decorations in the parks, including the attractions.  The most well known is Haunted Mansion Holiday that transforms the classic Haunted Mansion with theming from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

On select nights, you can also catch the Halloween Screams nighttime spectacular in place of Wondrous Journeys in Disneyland Park.  It features Jack Skellington, Zero, and Disney villains with a soundtrack of Halloween songs.  Some nights also include fireworks.  If you want to reserve a viewing area for Halloween Screams, you can do the Plaza Inn Halloween Screams Dining Package or the Tomorrowland Skyline Terrace Dining Package.

In Disney California Adventure, you’ll find more ride overlays.  Join Rocket for a Halloween adventure in Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, or head over to Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.  Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree also becomes Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree, complete with Halloween music.

This 2-hour walking tour of Disneyland Park for guests ages 3 and over shares tales of Disney Halloween history.  It includes expedited access to Pirates of the Caribbean, a reserved viewing area for Halloween Screams, a photo op with the Hitchhiking Ghosts of the Haunted Mansion, a Halloween-themed treat, and a pin.

Goofy’s Kitchen Halloween Brunch and Dinner

At Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel, you’ll find character dining with Goofy and his friends in their Halloween costumes!  There’s also Halloween decorations and themed food.  Brunch and dinner include Disney PhotoPass digital downloads and a Halloween button.

Over in Downtown Disney, there’s a scavenger hunt that’s fun for the whole family! Pick up a map and stickers for $9.99 at select merchandise locations. Then keep an eye out for pumpkins decorated like Disney characters.  As you find them, place the corresponding sticker on your map. Take your completed map to redeem it for a keepsake at Disney’s Pin Traders or World of Disney.

It’s not too late to plan a visit to Disneyland to catch all the Halloween fun!  Keep an eye out for confirmed reservations at the Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and the new Villas at Disneyland Hotel.
