DVC Resorts with Adjoining Studios

July 15, 2024
By

When traveling with a group of friends or extended family, sometimes it helps to have adjoining rooms, so you can have your own space and yet still be close to one another.  While Two Bedroom Lock-Off Villas consist of a One Bedroom Villa with a connecting door to a Deluxe Studio, there are a couple of DVC resorts that have adjoining studios.

Which Resorts Have Adjoining Studios?

Among the DVC resorts, currently only two of them have adjoining studios.  You’ll find them at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.  At the Polynesian, all three of the longhouses (Moorea, Pago Pago, and Tokelau) are composed of Deluxe Studios.  At the Grand Floridian, you’ll find adjoining studios in the Big Pine Key building.  In Big Pine Key, all of the rooms are Resort Studios.

Which Resort Is Better If I Want Adjoining Studios?

This will greatly depend on your travel party’s preferences.  Both the Polynesian and Grand Floridian are along the monorail loop for easy transportation to the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.  Also, both the Deluxe Studios at the Polynesian and the Resort Studios at the Grand Floridian sleep up to 5 guests.

One big difference in the room layout is the split bath in the Polynesian.  This gives you two showers, which helps get everyone ready more quickly in the morning.  The Polynesian Deluxe Studio also has a kitchenette with a mini fridge versus the beverage center at the Grand Floridian Resort Studio that has a beverage cooler, which doesn’t get quite as cold as an actual refrigerator.

If having two real beds is a priority, the beautiful and new Grand Floridian Resort Studios are an ideal pick.  They have two queen size beds, and neither is a Murphy bed.  For the fifth guest, the Polynesian Deluxe Studio has a pull down twin size bed while the Grand Floridian Resort Studio has a daybed.

How Can You Request Adjoining Studios?

First, it’s important to note that a request is just that. There is no guarantee that your request for adjoining studios will be fulfilled.  With that in mind, requests have to be made by the DVC Member who booked the reservation.  You can make a request by calling Member Services, using the chat feature on the DVC website, or using the Email Us form under the Help & Contact section of the DVC website.
