Disneyland Announces Holiday Plans
The Happiest Place on Earth will get even happier this November. Meanwhile, a popular DVC golf course will undergo changes soon.
Here’s what’s happening in the wide world of DVC.
Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course Finalizes Plans
A few weeks ago, I mentioned that Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course would close for drastic renovations.
Disney has hired the experts at Arnold Palmer Golf Management to redesign and modernize the golf course, presumably in hopes of luring the PGA back to Walt Disney World.
A Disney official recently stated,
“These are going to be dramatic changes to the Magnolia course that will create a playing experience that will be challenging yet fun for all golfers.
We know our guests expect a magical experience every time they come to play golf at Walt Disney World, and this redesign is part of our ongoing commitment to achieve that for every golfer who steps up to that first tee.”
What’s involved in this redesign? Every hole on the course will receive upgrades. However, some holes will change entirely.
Disney just confirmed the following details:
- “Hole 14 – Currently a par 5, will become a par 4, with a new green location
- Hole 15 – Currently a par 3, will shift location and become a long par 5 with a dogleg to the right
- Hole 16 – Will shift location and remain a par 4, but will now have a dogleg to the left
- Hole 17 – Currently a par 4, will become a par 3, with new tee box locations”
The golf course will also add a cart bridge between the 16th and 17th holes to provide panoramic views of the serene setting.
Disney hadn’t altered Magnolia since 2015, but the Arnold Palmer team indicates that these plans have been underway for several years now.
As such, you should expect a completely new golfing experience the next time you visit.
Disneyland Holiday Fun
I primarily focused on Walt Disney World’s holiday celebration the other day. However, Disneyland announced a slew of upcoming events as well.
As part of the Halfway to Christmas event, Disneyland confirmed the return of Believe… in Holiday Magic at Disneyland Park and World of Color – Season of Light at Disney California Adventure.
These nighttime presentations will anchor the evening festivities, but Disneyland Resort will offer much more this holiday season.
As I previously stated, Haunted Mansion Holiday will come back during the first week of September, most likely on September 2nd.
DVC fans will also enjoy a seven-foot-tall gingerbread tree in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.
According to the Parks Blog, “this annual tradition takes months for a 25-member team to create.”
By the way, I wanted to bring your attention to this USA Today article. The reporter gains access to Disney’s year-round holiday warehouse.
You can examine what’s involved in Disney’s efforts to bring the holidays alive each November/December.
According to the article, Disney Holiday Services includes three warehouses with 160,000 square feet of total space.
Also, a cast member correctly points out that Florida already has summers, but Disney must create the holiday season on its own.
The story isn’t long, but you’ll enjoy the dozens of pictures that reveal how Disney brings the holidays to life.
Disney Miscellany
I’ve got good news if you’re visiting Walt Disney World in mid-July.
The Disney Enchantment fireworks presentation will operate twice nightly from July 14th through July 24th.
Magic Kingdom will host the first show at 9:20 p.m., followed by the second batch of fireworks at 11 p.m.
Finally, at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, the popular DVC fishing excursion has returned after its extended pandemic absence.
The hotel hosts this event weekly on Thursdays, with the first one just happening on June 23rd.
The cost is $70 per person plus tax. Also, please understand that this isn’t a private event. You could wind up on the boat with several other traveling parties.
Obviously, this two-hour event is weather-dependent. Rain WILL cancel it, and you must book in advance.
