Cheapest Times to Rent a DVC Stay
When you rent a stay at a Disney Vacation Club Resort, the cost is based on the number of DVC points required to book the stay. The fewer points needed for the reservation, the lower the rental cost will be. The number of points required depends on a number of factors, including the resort, room type, booking category, and travel dates.
One of the easiest ways to save on your DVC rental is to be flexible with your travel dates and strategically choose a cheaper travel period. Here are the cheapest times to rent a DVC stay based on your Disney destination.
Disney World
For vacations at Disney World, the cheapest travel periods are:
- January
- May to early June
- September
- December before Christmas
Among these cheaper travel periods, December can be the most challenging to book since it is very popular among DVC Members. The lower point requirements for stays combined with the cooler weather and holiday decorations and parties like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party or Jollywood Nights make this time of year ideal for many DVC Members. If you want to rent a DVC stay in early December, it’s highly recommended that you submit your request 11 months out from your desired check-in date.
Disneyland
If you’re planning a trip to Disneyland, the cheapest travel period will depend on which resort you plan to stay at since the travel periods for the Grand Californian and Villas at Disneyland Hotel are not identical:
Grand Californian
- January to February
- mid-April to late June
- October to November (excluding Thanksgiving)
- Early December
Villas at Disneyland Hotel
- January to early March
- May
- mid-August through September
Stays at the Villas at Disneyland Hotel are have a nightly transient occupancy tax imposed by the City of Anaheim, which is paid at check-out. The cheapest travel periods also have the cheapest transient occupancy tax per night, so this is another way to save on your Disneyland Hotel stay.
Coastal Resorts
Besides renting stays for Disney World and Disneyland vacations, you can also rent stays at Disney’s coastal resorts, which include Hilton Head, Vero Beach, and Aulani. These resorts have their own travel periods, and below are the cheapest ones at each resort:

Vero Beach
- May
- September to November (excluding Thanksgiving)

Aulani

- Mid- to late April

For stays at Aulani, Ko Olina, the state of Hawaii, and the City & County of Honolulu impose a nightly transient accommodations tax. These taxes are lowest during the cheaper travel periods, which can help you save further on your resort stay.
