The Snack You CAN’T MISS at Disney Springs!
We’re off to Disney Springs today, and we’re headed for the one snack that I feel you need to try while you’re there. No, we’re not stopping by Gideon’s Bakehouse, although I believe that a Gideon’s cookie is worth any virtual queue or standby line that you’re required to wait in to get it. We’re not even going to Summer House on the Lake’s Cookie Bar, but you absolutely should run by and grab a Lemon Cookie during your visit. No, the one snack that I recommend – no, implore – you to try can be found a few doors down from Gideon’s at The Ganachery. Friend of mine, get ready ‘cause we’re having their made-while-you-watch-and-drool Artisan S’mores.
For just $8.50, you’ll have the chance to watch along as a Ganachery cast member lovingly creates a snack that will be your guaranteed new favorite. Upon your first step into the shop, you’ll know at The Ganachery is chocolate on another level. Display cases are filled with small but intensely flavored squares of chocolate ganache. Each new holiday brings another chocolate piñata that offers guests the chance to crack open and find even more sweet treats on the inside (wooden mallet for smashing the piñata is included, of course). But, if you’ve got s’mores on the brain, step right up to that register, slap down your money, and move over to the show kitchen to watch as your treat comes together.
The cast member will begin with two handcrafted graham crackers that have been pre-drizzled with chocolate ganache. A large and thick marshmallow is given the perfect amount of toasting with a kitchen torch and is then placed on the graham crackers. A sheet of Ganachery chocolate is laid on top of the golden brown marshmallow and then melted by using that same torch (I need to pick up one of those).
A generous sprinkling of sea salt is added on top of the layer of chocolate, and a graham cracker is placed on top. You’d be tempted to think that the experience ended there, but you’d be wrong. Don’t forget that this is Walt Disney World, friends. A stencil is placed on top of your s’more and powdered sugar is used to create a Mickey on your treat.
When your s‘more is complete, the cast member will box your snack up and walk it out to you. The one downside of The Ganachery is that there are no indoor seating options at which to savor your custom-made treat, but please know that ample ledges and such are waiting just outside.
The layers of the Artisan S’mores combine to create the most glorious and decadent treat at Disney Springs. Yes, there are other snacks, but this one takes the top spot in my book. The rich chocolate, the warm graham crackers and that incredibly soft and gooey marshmallow are the stuff that sweet tooth dreams are made of. The ingredient that takes the cake is that sprinkling of flaky sea salt. It brightens the whole thing and heightens the taste of the chocolate.
So, what about you? Which Disney Springs treat would you recommend most highly to a friend? (And by friend, I mean me, of course). 😉
