The Grand Floridian: A Great Resort for Families with Little Kids
With its elegant Victorian decor, the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa can have a reputation for being fancy or even stuffy. However, the Grand Floridian can be a very kid-friendly resort despite its upscale setting. Here’s why:
Easy Transportation to the Magic Kingdom
The Grand Floridian is closest to the Magic Kingdom, which is easily the best park for babies and young kids since it has the most attractions to offer without height restrictions. Moreover, there are multiple ways to travel between the Grand Floridian and the Magic Kingdom. You can take the iconic (and stroller-friendly) monorail, ride the ferry, or follow the walkway to the Magic Kingdom. This makes it easy to come back to the resort for midday naps and breaks.
Great Splash Pad
Guests at the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian have access to both the Beach Pool and the Courtyard Pool. The Beach Pool has an Alice in Wonderland-themed splash pad that is lots of fun for little ones!
A True Quick Service Location
The Grand Floridian’s quick service restaurant is Gasparilla Island Grill. Here, you’ll find plenty of kid-approved options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner like Mickey waffles, chicken strips, and mac and cheese. It’s open from 6am to 12am, so you can easily find something to keep everyone in the family full and happy at nearly all hours of the day.
Full Range of Room Types
While the Resort Studios in the Big Pine Key building may not be the best option for families with young kids due to the lack of real refrigerators, the Grand Floridian offers a whole range of room types from Deluxe Studios for up to 5 guests to Three Bedroom Grand Villas for up to 12 guests. The One Bedroom Villas and up have a full kitchen and washer and dryer, which are very helpful for travel parties with young kids.
Lots of Activities for Kids
The Grand Floridian does not have a community hall, but it still offers many of the same activities. You’ll find everything from poolside activities and Mickey tie-dye to crafts like ceramics and Movie Under the Stars, which offers viewings of favorite Disney movies.
The Grand Floridian can be a great place to stay when you are traveling with little ones! Book the Grand Floridian today by browsing the confirmed reservations or checking availability for future dates.
