Should I Book a Confirmed Reservation?

July 17, 2026
By

When you are interested in renting a stay at a DVC Resort through DVC Rental Store, you can either put in a rental request for a custom reservation at your preferred resort, or you can select one of the confirmed reservations that have already been booked by DVC Members. What are some of the pros and cons of confirmed reservations?

Pros

Guaranteed Availability

The biggest benefit of booking a confirmed reservation is that it means guaranteed availability. You don’t have to go back and forth checking to see if the stay you want is available or if there is a DVC Member who can fulfill your request with their points, which makes booking quicker and more efficient. Since a DVC Member has already booked the confirmed reservation, you know that it is available and ready to be claimed.

The guaranteed availability is especially helpful if your priority is to stay at an accommodation that is typically harder to book, such as a Deluxe Studio at the Beach Club or any stay at the Grand Californian

Great Deals for Last Minute Stays

DVC availability is best when you can plan in advance, but when you want to plan a trip that’s less than a few months out, confirmed reservations can be the way to go.  Besides the guaranteed availability, last minute confirmed reservations can offer significant savings.

For example, a last minute stay in a Preferred Deluxe Studio at Saratoga Springs from July 26 to 27, 2026 costs $573 before taxes if booked directly through Disney.  A confirmed reservation for that same resort, room type, and date costs $270, including taxes and fees. That’s a savings of $303!

Cons

No Modifications

The biggest con to confirmed reservations is that they cannot be modified, so you cannot change the reservation dates or room type.  For example, if you found a confirmed reservation that you are interested in, but you wanted to shorten the trip, you cannot do so.  You have to be willing to take the reservation as is.

If you don’t see a confirmed reservation that works for you, you can always set up custom alerts to be notified via text or email when a reservation fits your criteria.

How to Book a Confirmed Reservation

Start by going to the Guests tab on the DVC Rental Store website, and click on Browse Reservations.  On that page, you can browse through all the confirmed reservations or filter the results to find specific dates, resorts, or room types.

When you find the right reservation for you, start the booking process by choosing between Standard Booking with the DVC Rental Store’s Stress-free Cancellation Policy or Cashback Protection with the Cashback Protection Policy.  Then you’ll fill out the reservation form with your contact info and travel party details.

Twenty-five percent of the payment is due upfront, and the remaining 75% is due 75 days before check-in.  (If your confirmed reservation is less than 75 days away, then full payment is due at the time of booking.)

Once your payment is processed, DVC Rental Store will work with the DVC Member to transfer the reservation to you and provide you with the Disney reservation number that you can link to your My Disney Experience account.

Start planning your next Disney vacation!  Browse the confirmed reservations, or request a free quote to rent DVC points and save up to 65% compared to booking directly through Disney.
