News about Aunty’s Beach House and the Kidani Refurb
Some Disney Vacation Club properties are making changes, and I’ve got an essential Halloween reminder for you. Let’s talk shop!
Aunty’s Beach House Reopening Soon
Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas reopened a while ago, but one of its best amenities didn’t return with it.
Now, I’m happy to report that Aunty’s Beach House reopens on May 25th. If you’re unfamiliar with this location, it’s basically a kid’s clubhouse.
Parents can drop off their children aged 5 through 12 and let them play for 90-120 minutes. Meanwhile, the parents can soak up some adult time in the paradise of Hawaii.
This service is free to most guests, including DVC members. However, you should book a reservation, as it can sell out.
The resort accepts reservations up to two weeks ahead of time. So, you can already book for May 25th as of now. Here’s the official site.
Look for the Reserve Now option on the right side. Also, please be aware that Aunty’s Beach House operates from 7 a.m. through 9:30 p.m. local time.
However, a new change involves the hours of 4 p.m. through 9 p.m. The clubhouse now hosts family activities like ukulele lessons during this time each day.
More DVC Updates
I previously indicated that Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas will undergo refurbishments this year.
Disney has just updated hotel guests about the impacted amenities during this timeframe.
So, for most of 2022, several amenities will remain in operation. They will have sections closed off to guests, though.
Also, you should expect a fair amount of aggravation in navigating these areas. You’ve visited DVC resorts during renovations. You know the deal.
The impacted amenities include the bus station and stops at Kidani Village, the fitness center, and the barbecue pit.
Kidani Village’s hotel lobby will also undergo renovations during business hours later this summer.
These changes will impact the viewing areas/seating at the savannah. Still, Disney has indicated workers will ensure at least some space here for guests.
You may find savanna viewing a bit more competitive this summer, though.
The work should be completed by Halloween, which gives me an excuse to squeeze in that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets are now on sale!
As a reminder, this statement only applies to guests who have official Walt Disney World resort reservations in August, September, and October.
Remember that you enjoy an exclusive booking window through May 17th. So, if you’re visiting Disney at that time, you should book your MNSSHP tickets asap.
Just three years ago, Disney sold the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Pass, which gave people access to almost every event. That…may never happen again. As the situation stands, demand for MNSSHP vastly outweighs supply.
If you don’t act quickly, you really could get shut out. And I feel your pain because my family’s DVC plans for the Fall are in flux. So, we’re stuck, too.
Two More DVC Updates
Okay, this suggestion admittedly won’t apply to most of you, but I’m mentioning it just in case.
DVC guests at The Villas at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa should check your voice messages when you reach your hotel room.
There’s a chance that you’ll receive an invite to the DVC Preview Center. If so, you’ll find a free water bottle, a Stitch/Aulani pin, and some other stuff waiting for you.
Obviously, they’ll want you to listen to a sales pitch, but you can head them off at the pass. If you’re reading this, you know that DVC resales are the way to go.
Still, if Disney wants to offer you free Stitch merchandise, take it!
Along those lines, the Grand Californian has recently joined the growing list of DVC rooms that allow video casting.
You can send a clip straight from your smart device to the hotel television. Of course, you will need to download the Chromecast app since that’s the tech in place.
After that, the process is straightforward and uses a QR code to save you most of the aggravation.
I realize that not everyone watches television in the hotel room. Still, it’s an extremely useful update for those of us who do.
