How a DVC Stay Differs from a Hotel Stay
If you are renting DVC points for the first time, perhaps this is also the first time that you are staying at a DVC resort. If so, you are in for a real treat since DVC resorts include some of the best resorts that Disney has to offer! While DVC resorts are just as magical as other Disney resorts, there are a few differences between DVC and hotel stays. Here are some key points (no pun intended) to keep in mind:
Amenities
DVC villas are truly a home away from home, so they have some extra amenities compared to hotel rooms. Deluxe Studios have a kitchenette with a microwave, toaster, mini-fridge, coffee maker, sink, paper plates, bowls, and cups as well as plastic cutlery. One-Bedroom Villas and larger have a full kitchen with a stove, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, and sink. They are stocked with pots, pans, and kitchenware that you may need to prepare and serve basic meals.
One-Bedroom Villas and larger also have washers and dryers, and provide laundry detergent. If you are staying in a Deluxe Studio, you have access to the villa laundry rooms, where washers and dryers are free of charge. You just have to bring your own detergent or purchase detergent from a vending machine. Access to washers and dryers can really come in handy whether you are traveling with little ones or you just like to have a suitcase full of clean clothes (and one less chore to do) when you return home.
Parking
Normally, guests have to pay $25 per night for parking at Deluxe Disney Resorts, but one nice perk of booking a stay with DVC points is that there are no fees for standard self-parking. As a guest of a Disney Resort, you also have free standard theme park parking.
Housekeeping
Unlike hotel stays, housekeeping does not come every day for DVC stays. For stays of 7 nights or less, you will have trash and towel service on the 4th day, which includes trash removal and new liners for trash bins; fresh bathroom linens; replenished paper products (tissues, towels, toilet paper); refills of coffee, cream, and sweeteners; and additional dishwashing liquid/detergent, sponges, and laundry detergent (for the One-Bedroom Villas and larger).
For stays of 8 nights or more, you will have a full cleaning on the 8th day, which includes everything in the trash and towel service plus fresh linens, dusting, vacuum cleaning, bathroom cleaning, and kitchen/kitchenette cleaning.
If you need fresh linens or toiletries outside of these designated days, you can always call housekeeping to place a request.
Tickets
Unlike cash stays that allow you to create a vacation package that bundles your hotel reservation and theme park tickets, tickets are not packaged with DVC stays and have to be purchased separately. Not to worry though. The DVC Rental Store can help you order discounted tickets and even add Genie+! You can price them out here. Need a little extra help navigating tickets, park passes, Genie+, and more? Contact the DVC Rental Store’s Dream Vacation Planner, Ellie Boyer, who can help make planning stress-free!
