DVC Deluxe Villa vs. Value Resort: Is the Upgrade Worth It?

April 23, 2026
By

You may already know that renting DVC points gets you a stay at a Deluxe Resort for the price of a Moderate Resort, but are DVC villas ever worth the upgrade over a Value Resort? The answer is subjective since it’s highly dependent on your travel party’s needs and preferences, but here are some key differences between a DVC villa and a Value Resort room.

More Space and Amenities

By square footage, DVC villas are substantially larger than Value rooms. Value rooms are typically about 260 square feet, whereas Deluxe Studios are often around 350 square feet. Having more space gives you and your travel party more room to relax, unpack, and feel at home. Moreover, most Value rooms only sleep 4 guests, whereas Deluxe Studios at several DVC Resorts can sleep up to 5 guests.

DVC rooms also have extra amenities, such as kitchenettes or beverage centers in the Studios and full kitchens, washers, and dryers in the One Bedroom Villas or larger villas.

Prime Locations

As with real estate, it’s all about location, location, location. Part of the higher cost of staying at a DVC Resort is the premium location since many are in close proximity to the theme parks or even walking distance from some of them. Not only does this make traveling easier, but it also translates into some pretty amazing balcony views—another feature you won’t find at a Value Resort!

Better Transportation Options

Along with the prime locations come some transportation options that are arguably more convenient than just buses. For example, for guests with strollers or ECVs, sometimes the monorail, Skyliner, or resort boats are much easier to board than the buses.

More Dining Options

At Value Resorts, your only dining option is a quick-service food court. The convenience and variety of these food courts work well for many guests, but if you enjoy table service dining or simply want more than one restaurant at your resort, DVC Resorts are a great way to go. They typically have at least a quick service spot and a table service restaurant. Many also have signature dining.

Bottom Line: The extras that you get from staying at a DVC Resort, such as more space, dining options, and transportation options, can truly enhance your experience and may be worth the extra cost, depending on your travel party’s preferences.
