Disney World Restaurants for Special Occasions

March 4, 2024
By

Disney World has a wide range of dining options from casual quick service restaurants to award-winning restaurants fit for the most sophisticated palettes.  When it’s time to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and more, here are some dining suggestions for celebrating those special occasions in the most magical place on earth.

For Some of the Best Food on Property

Flying Fish

Plancha-seared scallops from Flying Fish

Located at the BoardWalk, Flying Fish serves up consistently superb food in an elegant setting.  As the name implies, Flying Fish predominantly serves seafood specialties, such as plancha-seared scallops, potato-wrapped red snapper, and seafood trofie pasta.  However, those who don’t like seafood will enjoy the char-crusted New York strip, filet mignon, and pan-seared organic chicken.

Citricos

Guava-barbecued short ribs from Citricos

This signature restaurant at the Grand Floridian is subtly themed after Mary Poppins Returns and features Florida cuisine with a Mediterranean influence and an award-winning wine list.  Notable dishes include the strawberry salad and sweet corn bisque appetizers, guava-barbecued short ribs, and butter-poached Florida cobia.

For Food as Memorable as the Fireworks Views

California Grill

Oak-fired filet of beef from California Grill

California Grill on the 15th floor of the Contemporary Resort is probably the best known restaurant for fireworks views.  Its observation deck gives great views of the Magic Kingdom, and guests can hear the fireworks soundtrack piped in.  There are even some window tables that offer fireworks views.

California Grill currently offers a prix fixe three-course meal with market-inspired selections.  Guests can choose from appetizers such as Sonoma goat cheese ravioli, spicy kazan roll, and Sardinian pizza.  Entrees include oak-fired filet of beef, cast-iron grilled pork tenderloin, Florida black grouper, and wagyu strip loin.  To complete their meal, guests can enjoy the Valrhona chocolate ganache torte, chef’s selections of California cheeses, fall spiced panna cotta, peanut and banana torte, or white chocolate cherry crème brûlée.  Sommeliers at the restaurant can also help guests pair the perfect wine to their meals.

Topolino’s Terrace – Flavors of the Riviera

Classic sole meunière from Topolino’s Terrace

For beautiful rooftop views of EPCOT’s fireworks and fantastic food, head to Topolino’s Terrace at Riviera.  The menu takes inspiration from the French and Italian Riviera with entrees such as classic sole meunière, bouillabaisse, filet mignon, branzino, and housemade rigatoni.

Narcoosee’s

The newly reimagined Naroosee’s at the Grand Floridian has both new decor and a new menu.  As with its previous menu, the current one features lots of incredible seafood dishes, such as the Gulf shrimp bucatini, yuzu-ginger salmon, blackened redfish, and surf and turf.  There is also the prime New York strip steak, milk-brined pork chop, and roasted vegetable paella.

Sitting along the Seven Seas Lagoon, Narcoosee’s has a great view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.  Guests can view the fireworks from some of the tables or from the restaurant’s veranda.  In addition to the fireworks, guests can watch the Electrical Water Pageant as it sails by Narcoosee’s with its twinkling floats.

For a Luxurious Culinary Experience

Victoria & Albert’s

For an extravagant celebration, consider Victoria & Albert’s at the Grand Floridian for a true splurge.  This signature restaurant is described as the “culinary crown jewel of Walt Disney World Resort” and has won several awards, including the AAA Five Diamond Award since 2000, Forbes Travel Guide Five Star since 2018, and Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence.

Victoria & Albert’s features a tasting menu of modern American cuisine that changes seasonally. Guests can choose to pair their tastings with zero-proof beverages or wines from the restaurant’s extensive collection of more than 500 wines.

There are three different experiences to choose from when reserving Victoria & Albert’s.  There’s the Victorian-style Dining Room with its grand rotunda, the Queen Victoria’s room for an expanded tasting menu and personalized tableside service, and the Chef’s Table where up to 6 guests can watch the chefs prepare their culinary creations.
