Dining Review: Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich
At the Walt Disney World Resort, there are many options for iconic snacks to savor in the parks. Some options include the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bar (who can resist having at least one during your stay), the Dole Whip, a Turkey leg, etc. This article will feature one of my new favorite “snacks”, although it could easily be a meal if enjoyed by one person. This is the Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich. The Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich can be found in the Magic Kingdom, at the Sleepy Hollow food “stand”. I say “stand” because Walt Disney World classifies Sleepy Hollow as a quick service restaurant, however there are only a few picnic tables to eat at and they are all outside (there is no inside seating). You can find Sleepy Hollow on the left side of the park facing Cinderella’s Castle (right side if you are looking out toward Main Street USA) on the walkway to Liberty Square towards the Hall of Presidents and Haunted Mansion.
You order from one window, and then pick up your order at the next window. Since most everything is prepared fresh at Sleepy Hollow, you will probably wait between five and ten minutes for your order (which, in my humble option, is worth it!). Some picnic tables overlook the castle moat with a decent side view of Cinderella’s Castle. I don’t think this would be a great place to watch Wishes though, because of trees blocking the aerial views.
There are other Waffle sandwiches available, but since I’ve only tried the Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich, this will be the only item I comment on. The first thing I noticed about the sandwich is that the waffle is prepared to order, and is fresh because of that. I think this is one of the main reasons why it’s one of my favorite snack spots in the Magic Kingdom, let alone all of Walt Disney World. If you look closely, you may be able to watch a Cast Member prepare your waffle in the iron! The waffle is topped with fresh fruit which consists of strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. The Nutella is spread onto the waffle before the fruit is applied. I think the fresh taste of the waffles and fruit, along with the sweetness of the Nutella spread, blend together nicely for a great tasting snack (or meal).
The waffle sandwich is not classified as a “Snack” or a “Quick Service Meal” on any of the Disney Dining Plans, so be aware that you’ll be paying out of pocket if you would like to indulge. As of August 2014, Disneyworld.com shows the price of the Nutella and Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich to be $6.69.
On my last trip to Walt Disney World in May 2014 I ordered this sandwich twice late at night when I needed a pick me up. I intend on stopping by Sleepy Hollow at least once on my family’s upcoming trip in September.
See ya real soon!
