Celebrating 100 Years of Disney at Disney World
The festivities for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary may have come to a close, but another celebration has just begun! In 2023, Disney World is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Company. Here are some of the special offerings that will be available during the Disney100 celebration!
Character Appearances
You’ll find Mickey and friends in their new special platinum outfits to celebrate the 100th anniversary. The characters will even make surprise visits to the Disney resorts, so keep an eye out for them! It’s the perfect way to snap an impromptu photo with your favorite characters.
Special Backdrops and Lighting
As part of the festivities, each of the four theme parks and Disney Springs will have a Disney100 sign by its front entrance. These make for great backdrops for photos to commemorate your trip!
Spaceship Earth in EPCOT will also have special lighting at night to honor the 100th anniversary. The display is inspired by icons from throughout Disney’s history, including characters, theme parks, and shows.
New Treats
What’s a celebration at Disney World without treats? The Disney culinary team has been cooking up lots of new foods and drinks that will be available soon. In the meantime, Disney Parks Blog has shared a description of a new petite cake that will be available at Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs as of May 1. The vanilla chiffon cake features berry mousse and berry compote and is topped with a Disney100 macaron.
Merchandise Collections
From apparel to popcorn buckets and more, you’ll find a wide variety of merchandise commemorating the 100th anniversary. Much of the merchandise can be found online at shopDisney. There are a few different collections to choose from, including the Platinum Celebration Collection, Disney100 Unified Characters Collection, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Collection, and Disney100 Decades Collections.
