Bay Lake Tower Review
Bay Lake Tower is very desirable if you are practical, enjoy recreational amenities, or like to enjoy Disney Vacation Club perks. One could argue there are a few downsides to Bay Lake Resort, which we will also explore. Overall, this is a great Disney Vacation Club resort to buy into or rent DVC points for a Disney vacation.
Reasons To Stay At Bay Lake Tower
Close to Magic Kingdom
Bay Lake Tower is only a 10 minute walk away from Magic Kingdom. This makes it an ideal location for after hour events or parties. We try to book Bay Lake the nights we are attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It’s also on the monorail which means it is a quick ride to Magic Kingdom and also the transit station. From the transit station, you can take a monorail to Epcot, so it has great accessibility for two Disney theme parks.
Great Views
Basically any view you get is a great view at Bay Lake Tower! On one side of the resort, you have the gorgeous Bay Lake. On the other side, you have a front row seat to Magic Kingdom which means you can enjoy the fireworks from your balcony.
Top Of The World Lounge
Bay Lake Tower is also home to the Top Of The World Lounge. Top of the World Lounge is a lounge only available for Disney Vacation Club members. This makes Bay Lake Tower an ideal resort for DVC members who want to experience all the perks of being a DVC member. The balcony at Top Of The World Lounge offers the most beautiful area to watch the fireworks. The lounge is also just a great place to spend time and enjoy the atmosphere. Don’t forget to try their Seven Layer Chocolate cake. It’s been awhile since I’ve had it…but that’s a dessert you can’t forget.
Recreation Area
Bay Lake Tower offers one of the best recreational areas. They have huge tennis courts that always seem to have availability. As they are located right on Bay Lake, there is easy access to fishing and boating too.
However, one of my favorite things that Bay Lake offers is their game area by the pool. You can find a large game of chess and the shuffleboard area.
They even have a great place to grill out as you enjoy a nice breeze off of Bay Lake.
Three Bedroom Villas
The 3 Bedroom Villas at Bay Lake Tower are separated by two floors. There is a staircase within the villa that leads to the second level. This could be a pro or con, but we included it as a pro, because of the gorgeous views that the second level window gives. The second floor gives the feeling you have more space to move around too!
Reasons To Stay Away From Bay Lake Tower
Modern Theme
Bay Lake Resort has a modern theme. So if theming is important to you, this may feel a little cold for a resort. In my opinion, it also feels more like a hotel than any other DVC Resort. Now, there are some individuals who actually prefer this theme, so this would not be a downfall for them.
Benefits to Buying Bay Lake Tower DVC Points
Buying into Disney Vacation Club at Bay Lake Tower is a great choice because of the location. It’s proximity to Magic Kingdom means it will always be a highly sought after resort so renting and resale prices should be good. Another added benefit is that Bay Lake Resort offers one of the lowest annual dues of all DVC resorts.
Also important to note is that a “medium” amount of points are needed to book rooms (compared to other DVC resorts). Therefore, a 125 – 150 point contract can get you approximately a week or so at Bay Lake each year. If you want to visit more often, you will want to get a higher point contract.
