4 Reasons to Visit Disney World in 2024

December 18, 2023

For Disney fans, it’s always a good time to visit Walt Disney World.  However, some big changes coming Disney World in 2024 make next year a particularly great time to plan a vacation!

The End of Theme Park Reservations for Most Tickets

Since the pandemic, guests have been required to make theme park reservations in addition to purchasing a theme park ticket in order to visit the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, or Animal Kingdom.  As of January 9, 2024, guests with date-based tickets will no longer need to make these reservations. Just a valid ticket will be required for entry.

While annual passholders will still need to make theme park reservations, Disney will also introduce “Good-to-go days” starting in January 2024.  On these specific days, annual passholders will not need a theme park reservation to visit a theme park.

Currently, guests with park hopper tickets or annual passes can only hop from one theme park to another after 2pm.  As of January 9, 2024, guests with park hopper tickets or annual passes will be able to go from one park to another at any time during park hours.  This gives much more flexibility to your park day!  You can even rope drop the Magic Kingdom and hop over to EPCOT to enjoy some festival food for lunch.

Continuation of Extended Evening Theme Park Hours

Extended Evening Theme Park Hours are one of the fantastic perks of staying at a Deluxe Disney Resort, including the DVC resorts.  On those evenings, guests of Deluxe Disney Resorts with a valid ticket can stay in the park for an extra two hours after the park has closed to the general public.  Disney has confirmed that these special evenings will continue through 2024.

Extended Evening Theme Park Hours are often held at the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. On occasion they have taken place at Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom.  Be sure to check the park hours to see which park will host extended evening hours during your next trip!

The Return of the Disney Dining Plan

Many guests love the convenience of the Disney Dining Plan and will be happy to know that the dining plan is also coming back on January 9, 2024!  When the plan returns, there will be two options: the Disney Quick Service Dining Plan and the Disney Dining Plan.

The quick service plan includes two quick service meals and a snack per night of your stay plus a beverage per meal and resort refillable drink mug.  The regular plan includes one table service meal, one quick service meal, and one snack per night of your stay plus a beverage per meal and resort refillable drink mug.

If you would like to add a dining plan to a rented DVC reservation with a check-in date of January 4, 2024 or later, go to your guest portal and request information.  The Reservation Specialist Team will work with the renting DVC member to add the plan to your reservation.  DVC members can add the dining plan to a resort reservation by calling Member Services or visiting the DVC website.
