Everything You Need to Know About the NEW Disney Lightning Lane Service
Today, Disney has announced some big news that will make the planning process for your Walt Disney World vacation smoother and more enjoyable. Starting July 24, Walt Disney World will introduce new changes to the Disney Genie+ service and individual Lightning Lane entry, including simpler names and more options for planning ahead.
What’s Changing?
This summer, Disney Genie+ service will become Lightning Lane Multi Pass, while individual Lightning Lane will now be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass.
New Ways to Plan Ahead
This enhanced service will offer Guests new ways to plan their Lightning Lane passes ahead of a Walt Disney World visit:
- Plan your Lightning Lane selections ahead of your Disney trip.
- Select ride experiences and times before making a purchase.
- Reserve Lightning Lane passes for your entire multi-day Disney vacation in one go, covering multiple days.
Here’s how these updated services will work beginning July 24th:
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
By purchasing the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you can select up to three Lightning Lane attractions at a theme park before your visit, choosing your preferred times. On the day of your visit, after using a selection, check the My Disney Experience app for availability to make an additional choice.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
The Lightning Lane Single Pass will function similarly to how it does now, allowing you to reserve a time for our most popular attractions. However, you’ll now have the option to purchase and schedule in advance.
Helping You Plan Ahead
Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel or select other hotels can reserve Lightning Lane passes up to seven days before their stay (for a maximum of 14 days). Other guests can book up to three days in advance. These early purchase windows allow guests to secure key rides and experiences after deciding on dining reservations and other plans.
Guests can buy a Lightning Lane Multi Pass, a Lightning Lane Single Pass, or both. The app will be updated for a quicker and easier purchase process, combining the option to buy both pass types in one transaction.
Guests have the option to buy Lightning Lane Single Pass and Lightning Lane Multi Pass 7 days prior, 3 Days prior, or on the day of visit at 7 a.m. Eastern. This allows you to plan your experiences and return times ahead of time.
Blend of Old and New
Lightning Lane passes will combine elements from the current Disney Genie and Genie+ services and the former FastPass+ service, allowing guests to plan ahead and avoid the stress of planning during their vacation. Disneyland Resort Updates
Starting July 24, Disneyland Resort will introduce the new names Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. Despite the name changes, the process for purchasing, selecting, and redeeming Lightning Lane passes will stay the same, tailored to the various ways guests experience Disneyland Resort.
Complimentary Features
Free features of Disney Genie service will remain accessible in the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps. These include booking dining reservations, ordering food via mobile, and additional options.
