Cosmic Rewind Debuting on Memorial Day Weekend
We finally know when superheroes will guard the galaxy, and that day is coming sooner than you think!
Cosmic Rewind Debuting Next Month
A few days ago, I said I expected Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to open on Memorial Day Weekend.
My basis for this belief stems from a since-deleted post by a Disney vice-president. Unfortunately, the person gave away the roller coaster’s opening date.
The post vanished once somebody told him that Disney hadn’t announced it yet. By then, it was too late.
Sure enough, that person was in the loop about the project’s timeline. On social media this morning, Disney revealed what that person had indicated.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will debut on May 27th. That’s the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend.
So, guests who spend the upcoming holiday at Walt Disney World can experience the first new roller coaster there since Slinky Dog Dash in 2018.
As a reminder, Disney has promised that Cosmic Rewind is the first “storytelling coaster” in the world.

By the way, the arrival of Cosmic Rewind on May 27th also means we’ve learned the opening date for Wonders of Xandar, EPCOT’s first “otherworld showcase pavilion.”
What Do You Need to Know?
Okay, if you’re familiar with how Disney introduces rides, you know the drill by now.
Disney WILL offer sneak peeks at the attraction before it technically opens.
As a diehard Disney fan, you’ll likely discover at least one way to schedule a ride ahead of time.
Disney has confirmed early previews for D23 Gold members, DVC members who qualify for Membership Extras, annual passholders, Club 33 members, and cast members.
So, I would imagine many people reading this fall into at least one of those buckets, if not several.
Unfortunately, the announcements lacked specificity. So, I will update you later when the various booking windows begin for each subgroup.
However, I think it’s fair to expect early ride previews to start in mid-May, possibly even at the start of the month.
Yes, fellow Disney fans, some of us are less than a month away from joining the Guardians of the Galaxy on an interstellar roller coaster adventure!
By the way, a Twitter user recorded some video of the exterior and interior of the Wonders of Xandar pavilion.
