"Cancel for any Reason" Point Protection PlanThere is nothing more exciting than planning a Disney vacation!  For most families, planning for this magical trip begins months, or maybe even years, in advance.  From choosing the perfect resort to deciding on the number of days to spend at the parks, or booking your Advanced Dining Reservations to selecting your FastPass+ times, this is no easy process.  Unfortunately, there are times where things don’t go as planned…those unforeseen circumstances that put that once in a lifetime trip on hold.

We are proud to introduce our “Cancel for any Reason” Point Protection Plan (PPP).  This optional “cancel for any reason” plan is available to all guests that secure a non-discounted reservation with rented Disney Vacation Club points through the DVC Rental Store.

The Cost to add the PPP to your reservation is $1.75/rented point with a minimum of $175.00 and must be purchased when making the deposit payment for your DVC reservation. This option lets you cancel for any reason – no questions asked – up to three days prior to your check-in date.

If purchased, the PPP reimburses a certain percentage of the accommodation payments** that you have made (up to 100%) for your reservation.  The amount (percent) which is reimbursed depends on when the cancellation occurs. The chart below provides a breakdown of coverage.

** Coverage is for accommodations reserved through the DVC Rental Store only. Coverage excludes all other expenses. In most cases, we will be able to issue a refund for Disney Dining Plan payments. Be sure to check our Point Protection Plan FAQ page for more information.

Please be aware that if you decide against adding the Point Protection Plan to your reservation, you will only be able to make minor adjustments to your reservation such as adding/deleting guests (the lead guest on the reservation can not be changed), address changes or phone number changes. You will not be able to alter the reservation in other ways, such as changing the lead guest, travel dates, villa category or changing resorts. Your DVC Rental Store Travel Advisor will be happy to assist you in reserving an additional villa if extra room is needed. 

Disney may close some resort facilities or amenities when they deem it appropriate for either maintenance or renovation. These closures may be minor or extensive. The DVC Rental Store receives no notice of these closures prior to the information being released to the General Public. Due to our legal agreements with the member and changing resort availability, the DVC Rental Store is not able to alter or revise your accommodations, resort or travel dates unless you have purchased our optional Cancel for any Reason Point Protection Plan (PPP).

If you decide to add a Point Protection Plan to your reservation, you will be able to alter the reservation to make changes such as switching the main guest, making travel date changes or villa category or resort changes pending availability. These changes to the fundamentals of your reservation would be handled as a PPP cancellation where you would receive a refund according to the Cancellation Tier chart below, and your revised stay would be booked as a new reservation. Your PPP purchase price would not be refunded.

“Cancel for any Reason” Point Protection Plan Details:

  • The cost of the “Cancel for Any Reason” Point Protection Plan is $1.75/rented point with a minimum of $175.00.  All reservations that require 100 points or less have a purchase price of $175.00.
  • Coverage is for accommodations reserved through the DVC Rental Store only. Coverage excludes all other expenses. In most cases, we will be able to issue a refund for Disney Dining Plan payments. Be sure to check our PPP FAQ page for more information.
  • Cancellation request must be received no later than 11:59 pm EST on the tier change-over date to qualify for the earlier cancellation tier. Discounted point reservations do not qualify for “Cancel for Any Reason” Point Protection Plan.
  • The PPP premium payment MUST be paid in full at the time the full deposit is paid for the reservation.  If you do not submit the PPP premium payment with the deposit, the Point Protection Plan cannot be added to the reservation.
  • Please note that when you cancel a reservation with the DVC Rental Store, your reservation is not being canceled through Disney’s system. If you have linked your reservation to a My Disney Experience account, you will continue to see your reservation on your account until we have found a new Guest to take over your reservation. Rest assured, your reservation is cancelled with the DVC Rental Store, and you are no longer financially responsible for your reservation.
