Planning a Disney World Trip for Spring 2023
With schools going on spring break in March and April, springtime can be a popular time to travel to Walt Disney World. It’s also a very eventful time of year with the start of another EPCOT festival, Easter festivities, a runDisney race weekend, and the debut of a new attraction. Here’s what you can look forward to during your spring 2023 Disney World trip!
Opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run
At the D23 Expo, we learned that TRON Lightcycle / Run will finally open in spring 2023! This coaster-style attraction is located in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom next to Space Mountain. It is based on the coaster in Shanghai Disneyland in which you ride on two-wheeled lightcycles, just like the vehicles you see in the Tron movies. With your spring 2023 trip, you can be among the first to experience this much anticipated attraction!
2023 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival
At the time of writing this, we do not yet have the dates of the festival, but we do know we can look forward to this EPCOT annual festival starting in the spring. With this festival, there will be lots to look forward to, including beautiful gardens and topiaries, outdoor kitchens featuring fresh seasonal ingredients, and the Garden Rocks concert series.
Easter Festivities
Every Easter, the Magic Kingdom has its Easter Parade with Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny and some rare Disney characters. There are also some incredibly ornate chocolate Easter egg displays at the resorts, such as Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Contemporary Resort. If you’re looking for a break from the theme parks, a little resort hopping to check out the Easter egg displays and treats can be fun.
runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend
In 2023, the Springtime Surprise Weekend will take place April 13-16. Each event this year is Pixar-themed: Disney Pixar Cars 5k, Disney Pixar Monsters 10k, Disney Pixar Toy Story 10 Miler, and the runDisney Springtime Surprise Challenge that includes all 3 events. While some of the events have sold out already, the Springtime Surprise Yoga and Disney Pixar Toy Story 10 Miler are still available as of the time this blog is being written. Check the runDisney website for the latest info.
The Debut of a New Fireworks Show at Magic Kingdom?
Besides the big TRON Lightcycle / Run announcement, the D23 Expo also shared that Disney Enchantment, the night time fireworks show at Magic Kingdom, will end along with the conclusion of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration. This means that the last showing of Disney Enchantment will likely be March 31, 2023, making way for a new fireworks show in spring 2023.
