Where Are the Gingerbread Houses?

October 31, 2021

Last November and December didn’t quite feel right at Disney Vacation Club resorts.

Due to social distancing policies in place at the time, Disney erred on the side of caution with its holiday festivities.

Now that 80 percent of the adult population has received at least partial vaccination, park officials are ready to celebrate the holidays again.

Yes, we just learned where we’ll see Gingerbread Houses in a few days. Hooray!

You’ll Find Gingerbread Houses at…

Disney’s Parks Blog has confirmed that two DVC resorts will host Gingerbread Houses this year.

The fine print suggests that this list is subject to change. So, we could feasibly get more than two. You should feel confident about these two, though.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort will bring back its beloved spinning carousel for 2021!

This year’s theme is The Little Mermaid, and the Parks Blog promises “hand-painted holiday characters, handcrafted gingerbread shingles, and fondant snowflakes.”

As a reminder, here’s what the carousel looked like in 2019:

I can’t show you the ones from 2020. As a reminder, Disney canceled its gingerbread displays last year due to safety concerns.

Absence has likely made your heart grow fonder here. I know I felt a thrill when I saw that spinning carousel again. I’d forgotten how remarkable it is.

The post indicates that this carousel will debut on November 1st, which is Monday!

Still, everyone knows that the most impressive and memorable holiday display happens at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Yes, the Gingerbread House will return in a few days! Disney suggests that the starting date for this one is November 10th.

On that date, you’ll experience a “life-size storybook gingerbread house with “cinnamon clouds” puffing from the chimney.”

Disney has even decorated the chimney with “white chocolate candy canes, edible snowflakes, and sugar poinsettias.”

As usual, you can buy gingerbread treats in the hotel lobby. However, it’s unclear whether these transactions will occur inside the Gingerbread House.

Here’s what the decorations looked like in 2019:

Other Gingerbread Houses and Holiday Updates

The final segment of that video shows The American Adventure at EPCOT’s World Showcase.

Disney just confirmed that Gingerbread House will return…but not until November 26th.

On that date, The American Adventure Gingerbread Display will feature the “Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, and The American Adventure building in miniature edible versions.”

This display will end the earliest, finishing its exhibition on December 30th. The Beach Club display’s last day is January 1st, while the one at the Grand Floridian ends on January 2nd.

Notably, no other Disney resorts have Gingerbread House listings on the Parks Blog, which means no Gingerbread Cabin at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, barring something unforeseen.

However, standard decorations at places like Disney’s Contemporary Resort should still arrive by November 12th. I’ll keep you updated on those.

The Parks Blog also unleashed a slew of announcements regarding holiday menu items coming soon to Disney resorts. Here’s a link to the complete list.

The TL: DR is that you’ll find novelty yuletide food and beverages at most official Walt Disney World resorts.

DVC members will find these goodies at:

  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Inn
  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
  • Disney’s Old Key West Resort
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
  • Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
  • Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club

All five Value Tier Walt Disney World resorts will also offer goodies. The same is true at all the Moderate Tier resorts except for The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

So, you’ll want to Resort Hop frequently during your holiday stay at Walt Disney World.

Everything isn’t fully back to normal, but it’ll feel much closer to the DVC holiday vacations you remember than it did in 2020.
